Just never understood the appeal of the Buntline. Never handled one, but man, I'm not crazy about the balance of a 7.5" barrel, I can't even imagine how unwieldy one of these behemoths would be in hand.

Just what was the purpose of this configuration. Target shooting? I also have no understanding of the appeal of this revolver.

The common 12 inch version was a TV gimick gun for the TV series LIFE & LEGEND OF WYATT EARP starring Hugh O'Brian. A neat gun, and very accurate. The originals, as being copied by Turnbull had removable stocks and were meant to replace a carbine. However, today's laws make that illegal unless the barrel is minimum of 16 inches.

Unlike the photos I saw from Turnbull, the photos on the SASS forum show it with a funky looking swing up tangent sight on the top strap. I was considering a 10 inch model before I saw that.

I prefer something I can actually carry.

"Grinches" How appropriate! ;D ;D ;D While I have no desire for a USFA Buntline, since I'm holding four 9-10 inch FAs, I'm sitting here biting my tongue
