Hey Folks, I'm new to the forum and single action revolvers. I don't want to damage/harm what I own. I was hoping someone could elaborate on what parts do I need to lube/oil and what products work well. Thank You, Scott

In a nut shell first read the owner's manual and if you buy a used gun you can go online and get them. First you never need so much oil that it's running off the part, just a film will do. Use it where metal is against metal under stress, that is the gas ring, ratchet star, hammer sear/trigger, I like a bit in the pocket where the hammer strut rotates. I don't use any on the base pin as I feel this causes a gummy build up from powder residue.
The rest of the gun gets a wipe down with a silicone cloth after cleaning.

Thanks for the input I was rather disappointed in Ruger's directions regarding lube. However, I am overall impressed with the guns! Thanks for the welcome. Scott

I use Grant Cunningham's recommendations for lubrication and use Ed's Red (home mix as per C.E. (Ed) Harris (former Ruger development engineer and NRA Staffer) for a cleaner and preservative: www.lasc.us/EdsRedBoreCleaner.htmIf you mix this per instructions, if you leave out the lanolin, you can mix a gallon for about the same cost you pay for a four ounce bottle of commercial stuff. In cast bullet rifles and pistols, it actually does a BETTER job! Dale53
