Was at a shop I frequent on business travel today and spied a Qwik-Kit Seville. SN was 34, off the top of my head. 4 3/4" .45 Colt with no box, papers, extra barrels, extra cylinders, or tools. Mechanically, it was excellent and locked up about as tightly as a Freedom Arms and a B/C gap so small it was hard to see light through it. Smooth as silk. Cosmetically, it had around 90% finish left with wear, dings, dents, and scratches that showed it had not only been shot, but probably carried and hunted with. Shop owner, who is a friend, said he really pumped the guy for the extras, but they were long gone before he owned it.
He wants $700 for the gun. As a shooter, it would be wonderful. I've always wanted a Qwik-Kit and shooter grade would be fine, but it would be nice to have at least an extra barrel, if not more than one, and be able to change calibers. So, it doesn't have condition, nor does it have extras, but it is still a darn cool piece. If it was in pristine shape, I'd have already bought it. If it had had extra barrels and cylinders, I would have bought it. But, I'm stuck on what I think about it at that price. Curious what you guys think of its value. Heaven knows, finding one at any price in any condition doesn't happen every day.
Also, the barrel and cylinder were numbered 42, rather than to the SN of the gun. Is it supposed to match the SN? I've handled only two Qwik Kit guns before this and never paid attention to the barrel/cylinder numbering.
Thanks for your thoughts.

$700 is a fair price. The owner wrote me a few weeks back and sent photos so I know the gun. It is a factory Qwik Kit, but without extra barrels, cylinders, or tools it's like any other Seville. But again, I'd buy it at that price....it is a clean piece. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Hmmmm - the guy who emailed you must be the guy who sold it to the shop, as my buddy just bought it within the last couple days.
What is the deal on the numbers on the barrel and cylinder being different from the SN? Are they all like that?
Thanks, Lee!

Has to be the same guy because the photos he sent are of QW-34. If you email me at lee@singleactions.com I'll forward them to you. The mismatched numbers are a mystery to me. It may be put together with a barrel/cylinder combination from 42. Question is, what happened to the rest of 34? -Lee www.singleactions.com

So, the numbers are supposed to be matched, then? Makes sense to me.
Yes, the questions would be what happened to 34 and how did 42 wind up on it? The finish match is excellent, as is the fitting of the parts. If it weren't for the numbers, I'd think the gun came from the factory that way.

Ya, the cylinder number is supposed to match the frame. Maybe they made a mistake during factory assembly because I agree, the finish looks perfectly matched. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Well, it is being held for me. Hope to be back by the shop sometime next week to pick it up. Gonna have to see how it shoots.
