We just finished filming the Hamilton Bowen episode of the new, expanded 1-hour SHOOTING GALLERY, which will probably air end of February on Outdoor Channel. As per you guys' suggestion, we documented Hamiton building one of his classic "Nimrod" Bisleys in .500 Linebaugh. It was a full court press — multiple cameras, one mounted on a jib (an articulated "arm"), high-quality sound, etc. Every so often Hamilton would stop by and look at the big HD monitor relaying the camera feeds and mutter, "Amazing...just amazing!" We also threw in some of Hamilton's "greatest hits," including a very nice Keith #5 based on a Ruger and Hamiton's current favorite, a pretty little Single Six in .327.
Speaking of .327, I was in Brazil at Taurus/Rossi just before Thanksgiving. While at the Rossi plant (which was impressive with the banks of bright shiny new CNC machines just coming on line), I strongly suggested a '92 in .327 as a great little knock-around rifle." I also suggested a .500 Magnum '92, but that's just me.
PS: The "Trail Judge," now a .45 Colt/.410 "mare's leg" gun based on the Rossi side-eject (think Marlin) platform, has, I've been told, been cleared for import. They showed the gun in a .410 version for 1 day at SHOT last year, but it quickly disappeared. I and Brother Quinn (I believe...correct me Jeff if I'm misremembering) opined it might not meet ATF muster...it apparently didn't. As a .45/.410, however, I was told we'll be seeing it here very soon. I love the stupid things and my name is pretty close to first on the list!
