Has anyone seen the Uberti Cattleman on sale over at GunBroker for $250.00? I bought one and what a surprise! These things shoot great! They are well fitted and other than the bead blasted finish are finely fitted bargains for the price. I shot mine today offhand at 25 yards just goofing around printed 2.5" groups. With a spring change and a little judicious handloading this may become my favorite woods bumming gun.

Very nice deal. I traded into a USFA Rodeo with the same thought and love that gun. Much more affordable!
I think your gun (and the pic) looks great!

I have a Cattleman Millenium, and its a fine piece.
I have seen this offering. Its a real deal, some kind of overstock blowout, reputable dealer. Hard to beat, very few good reasons not to buy one at this price.

Bowenbuilt, Does that Uberti have that hammer block safety that's part of the hammer or just the two position base pin. I'm thinking about getting one but don't want the hammer block safety.
Thanks, Jim

That's quite a deal. I've never held a Uberti that I didn't like. From what I know, these $250 Ubertis are every bit as good as their higher end models. The only difference is the finish.

I think you got a great gun. The Uberti's I've seen are well made. I've shot one a Cimarron & it shoots great. Congratulations. Frank

I purchased one in .357 from that same dealer on gunbroker.com while he still had 'em; only 45 Colt left now. I have a total of five of those pieces, (three in .357 and two in 45 Colt) and I love them. They are, in fact, the same quality as the more expensive Uberti models but with the cheaper finish.
I polished two of mine with Flitz just to mix things up and the result was nice. On one I put a faux antiquing, with more wear on some places than others, and on the other I created an even finish. It let the steel character show through that matte. I'll probably get another one in 45 because, how can I NOT for that price?!
These guns really improve with the installation of an aftermarket bolt/trigger spring and main spring. Also, gunblast.com (I think one or two of the guys here might have heard of that website) has a great article on "slicking" one up.

This is the second one I’ve had. I was probably too much of an Uberti neophyte to appreciate the first one. It’s an enormous value at $250.
CC is the date code on mine, so that one’s actually a 2008 build. It’s got a safety block hammer, but it’s got a coil hand spring. No cylinder bushing, which might be an obvious cost cutting measure. Absolutely no cylinder wobble though.
My experience is a sear and bolt spring replacement will improve the action most dramatically.

Beauty of a gun! I for one don't mind the matt black finish. My Pistolero has it and it looks just fine to me.

I have an order into Wolf for their music wire bolt spring and one of their main spring packages. I also ordered a Colt screw driver combo from Brownells to do the replacement. It all should be here before weeks end so I will let you know how it all turns out. If I can steal some time from work I am planning on doing some load testing to see what it likes. I tried the old load of 8 grains of Unique and a 250 FN bullet that seems to shoot just a might low but correct for windage. I will know more once I get a chance to do some serious testing and I am looking forward to it. Thanks guys.

The new cimarron have a lot of mods that were problematic to Colts and clone guns . My 4 Cimarrons came from the factory with the Ruger stye coil spring and plunger for the pawl and piano wire trigger and stop . This is new stye spring The tool to do the old Colt and clones with flat pawl spring This a super main spring

Like the Cimarrons, also Uberti's, mine also came with coil spring plunger behind the pawl and those are the springs I ordered. I can't wait to get it all together. Thanks for the pictures Gun Runner.

Thanks, Jim Jim, Here is a link showing how to remove the hammer block safety and how to slick up the action while you have it a part. This is another one of those great "how to" articles by Jim Taylor and featured on Gunblast. www.gunblast.com/JimTaylor_Uberti.htm
