The 300 grain Winchester load was a duplicate of the 300 grain load that Freedom used to sell and it featured Freedom's jacketed flat-nosed bullet.

That 335 grain 45 Colt load we were shooting in that was nice. All the power you'd ever need and not punishing on the wrist. -Lee www.singleactions.com

That was actually a 360 grainer. I agree that it is pretty comfortable to shoot.

I thought it was the 250's. may be like Lee and others said about percieved recoil.I know the gun slapped the crap out of my hand but thing I will never forget,I had a sinus infection at the time and when I shot the 250's it felt like fizzing soda in my face.

Were the 360 grain loads factory or handloads? If handloaded, would you care to share that load with us?
I like the 335's but am always open to suggestions.
I have a 20 round box left of the old Winchester 300 jsp's. Sorry to see them go, too.
The Win. 250's I have are loaded at about 3/4 power; about the same as a 44 mag. It's a cake walk shooting these after a few of the hotter rounds.

It's a Double Tap load that I've been testing. I really like it. It's proven accurate out of my 4-inch Redhawk.

Those 300 grain loads were really stout -- more than 1,600 fps. They definietly got my attention out of my 7.5-inch SRH!

OK. I finally got the info on the load I shot. It was factory 260g Winchester.
