Its that time of year, all around the country the little....& big fairs are setting up shop. I've always enjoyed them, walking through the barns, looking at horses, pigs, cows, etc, but my real passion is the food booths!
Always lots of yummy goodies around & a couple of my long time specialities are Navajo Tacos or Teton Fries, yuummmmieee!
Jeff Hoover (Tank) said that was one of the things he wanted to try the first time he called me 2 years ago. Tank can eat more than Callshot.
This was my Navajo Taco, first you start out with a fresh scone, then comes the lettuce, taco meat & beans, its smothered in cheese, onions, tomatoes, sour cream & salsa. These little beauties will bring tears to the eyes of a serious eater!
Callshot is always trying to out do (eat) me & sometimes he gets it done.
Here's his order!
Next up was an Xlarge order of Teton Fries, these little gems are smothered in melted cheese, bacon bits, sour cream & topped off with green onions.
I tell ya, its amazing how this old country boy can put on the feed bag, he's really a machine.
After a couple of sodas for a belly wash we wandered up & down the runway, it was wet, been raining for 2 days & kind of sloppy. I lost track of Callshot for a while & they I spied him laying behind one of the big tents, he was balanced on his belly like an elephant seal in bibs! His head must have been 18" off the ground.
We're headed back for pie shortly, can't decide if I want, blueberry, huckleberry, fresh peach of boysenberry, whatever it is it will have a big goober of ice cream on top. 4 more days to go, still got the pig wrestling coming up. More photo's to come.
Fred, I can't write & Callshot can't read so a book is doomed! Here's more photo's from last nights pig wrestling. One of my grandson's team "Bacon & Legs" took second, split $170. They got beat by the "Swine Flu Team".
One of my daughter in laws (40 years old) "pigs in a blanket" finished 3rd. The winning ladies team "pigs vs pigs" wore cop uniforms, they also won it last year, they beat out the "husky hogs", I thought it should have been "musky hogs"
This is the arena, its made up of Bentinite, might be spelled right, its powdered clay, mixed with water, this stuff is messy!
This is some of the small pigs for the little kids.
There were 41 teams entered.
Here's one of the teams trying to catch their hog. Some of these farm girls are big heifers, one girl, about 15 years old was muscled up like Fermin, no neck & a rear bumper that matched a Peterbilt. She grabbed that hog around the middle & walked right out to the barrel in the middle of the muck & fell flat on her backside just before she stuffed him in the barrel, impressive!
Another team, trying to pick up a slippery hog, the handlers mud them up good before they bring them into the arena.
Here's my daughter in laws team, this was in the heavyweight division........hogs not women! Click on the last 5 photo's for video!!
Grandson Ridge's team, they took second.
This is the winning ladies team, for the second year in a row, they won $640 & 4 trophies. Megan, the team leader is one fine looking lady, she had 2 sisters & one sister in law in her group, all fine looking "cops"
I finished the night off with a scrawny pulled pork sammmich!!
