Thats really nice. How does it shoot? Is it a family hand me down or a purchase?

I found this one in the local paper a few years ago. The seller had owned it for almost 40 years, and wasn't shooting it enough to justify keeping it. I don't need a justification to keep a gun like this one. He also told me that his adult children weren't really interested in owning his guns, so he decided to sell. I called him in the morning on a payday Friday(the day before I was broke), and he told me that he still had this one but that the Ruger 22 autopistol that was in the same ad had sold earlier that morning. I couldn't believe that someone would make the mistake of buying the Ruger when this Colt was available. I asked him about it and he said he still had it. I asked if it was a Colt or a replica, and he said, no it's a Colt. To make a long story short, he told me if I was sure I was going to buy it that he would leave the house and ride his snowmachine until I got done with work and could meet him to buy it. I told my wife that I was buying a gun after school, then went and bought it. I originally told anyone who would listen that this one was going in the ground with me some day, but it'll go to one of my kids instead. This one also came with some very nice old stag grips, and a couple of other pairs of grips. This is a gun that fits into that deal of a lifetime category.

Old ?? I turned 60 on the 22nd. My boss used to tell me,"You're older than dirt !". HA,he's within 1 or 2 year of me.
Love that "old" Colt ! Whatever you paid for it,was worth every penney. Keep it.Don't ever sell it. You have a piece of history in your hands. You have a good weekend.

Akray Boy I'm glad that gun went to someone who'll appreciate it instead of some kids who won't & will just sell it for some unneeded junk. A nice old Colt (or for that matter a nice new Colt) should go to someone who will appreciate it. Thanks for sharing that story & I'm kinda proud of that fellow recognizing that someone would really appreciate his gun. When you get a chance to shoot it we'd be interested in how it shoots for you. Congratulations!!! Frank
