I have been calling every "candy store" in the Dallas / Ft Worth area and not a single new SAA in stock anywhere. Everyone tells me they can order one, but they have no idea how long it will take. Many of them said the suppliers are out of stock as well. Seems unlikely, except that I checked Davidson's and they have 0 in stock. Does that sound right? You would think with Colt making it clear they want to get back into the civilian market that they would want to have stock available for sale. Just thinking out loud.

Who knows what goes through the minds of the Managers at Colt? Around here, it's been many years since we've seen SAA's in stock on dealer's shelves.

FORGET CANDY STORES (ALL I COULD FIND LOCALLY AT LEE'S CANDIES WAS 2# OF EXPENSIVE BRIDGE MIX FOR DIAMOND DOT FOR OUR 52nd LAST SUNDAY. THEY HAD NO SIXGUNS AT ALL) AND CALL REAL GUN SHOPS. GUN SHOPS DON'T HAVE NEW COLTS FOR THE SAME REASON THEY DON'T HAVE NEW FREEDOM ARMS SIXGUNS; THEY DON'T STOCK THEM. I HAVEN'T SEEN EITHER ONE LOCALLY FOR AT LEAST 25 YEARS. CALL COLT PERSONALLY OR CHECK FIRST STOP IN RAPID CITY SD. THEY BUY 'EM BY THE CASE AND SELL 'EM.

Have you tried Cabela’s in Ft Worth? If they don’t have any new ones they should have some nice used ones.

Okay. I just spoke with Colt and I quote, "we will not be shipping any P-1840's (SAA, 4 3/4 inch, 45 Colt, Color Case & Blue) until the end of March, and most if not all of those are to fill current orders and are already sold." First Stop in SD was the same story. Possible the end of March, or early April.

ALLCOMPANIES RUN GUNS IN SEQUENCE AS THEY CAN'T RUN EVERYTHING EVERY DAY. I HAVE WAITED MONTHS FOR TEST GUNS WHILE AT OTHER TIMES THEY WERE SHIPPED IMMEDIATELY.

I must be living in the right place. Our local gun shop has at least half a dozen Colt SAA's on the shelf, and they are sitting right next to as many Freedom Arms guns including the new single shot. Kurt

Collector's Firearms in Houston TX had a LOT of them when I was there last summer. Looking at their web site. they have LOT of them now. More SAA's in one place than any gun shop I have ever been in. (They had several FA's too....never have seen that).
Lucky for me I don't live close to that place!

Have you tried Cabela’s in Ft Worth? If they don’t have any new ones they should have some nice used ones. This is a great idea. We have a Cabela's in Billings, & the operator of the gun dept. said he can have a gun shipped to him from any Cabela's store. I think if you can locate one at one of the Cabela's stores they'd ship to your local Cabela's store. Go online & search Cabela's gun library & you can probably find one. Good luck on your search. I visit Cabelas in Ft. Worth frequently and was in there a few days ago. At that time they had 8-10 older Colts for sale. I've NEVER seen a new one in there. The older ones are all collector items and are quite expensive but they will negotiate the price downward. The ones they currently have in stock have been there for several months...some for a few years.
