I'm no doctor but shouldn't have those pics been taken from the inside of a hospital and not a living room? I think he is lucky he appears to have slid the bullet between major bones in his foot but if that thing get infected, and it will, he could lose a lot more than he has already....

Quick draw is for people that know what they are doing. That is the perfect example of why quick draw shooters use wax bullets or blanks. Even my quick draw holsters made by Mernickle have a deflector shield built into the bottom of the holster to keep the wax bullets away from your leg should you get in too much of a hurry.
If one wanted to shoot live ammo quick draw one should become very proficient with shooting wax and blanks before trying out any live ammo. Personally I don't see any reason to use live ammo shooting quick draw unless you are good enough to make your living at it.
But there is always the occasional person that has to learn the hard way.

NICE! Looks like it was maybe a .45 or similar, too. I think he got off pretty good, considering. He could have put that slug down his leg...that would have been a whole 'nuther story.

Anyone know the story behind these pics? The shoe looks like it has some powder burns around the hole, if that's the case, it looks more like a rife handling issue....unless of course he was using a buntline for quickdraw practice. Either way..."That's gonna leave a mark!"

At the disrance from a man's hand (or holster) to the top of his boot, the muzzle blast would most likely still leave powder burns IMO

Well, I guess there's still an advantage to it. After all, he can stand on his newspaper to hold it down in a windstorm and still read it. And it looks like it might make a dandy place to rest his gun barrel to steady his aim. Daryl
