Is anyone loading 7.62x39 in a bolt action or single shot rifle for hunting purposes? If so, what bullet are you liking? I seldom shoot deer and pigs over 150lbs.
Thinking it may be a fun lower recoil round.

Much depends on the actual bore size of your rifle. Some are actually .308 instead of .311. If .308 is the size you have many good choices, but you also need to ensure your expander die matches your bore size. In 308 the Sierra 125gr SP works well, as does the 130speer FP, a good friend swears by the Nosler 150gr. Partition, for all of his 30 Russian needs.

Also a Howa shooter here. 29gr cfeblack and 123gr bullets are 1moa at 100 for me. Also using a redfield revolution 4x12 scope that had in the takeoff box. Really happy with it!

I got lucky and got a CZ 527 with loads worked up for cast. It’s in storage waiting on a move. When I unpack I’ll let you know.

I shoot a CZ 527 in 7.62x39 but I stick to iron sights and steel cased Russian ammo

I had a LOT of loads for 7.72x39mm in my dearly departed CZ 527M/CSR, including spire point, soft point and home cast. The only one I ever successfully used for hunting was the NOE 129gr .311 sized down to .311 and powder coated.
