The wife and I fly home in about an hour after working at the kids place for a week before they move. Since the military contract movers won’t move firearms or ammo we have done some creative shuttling in the past. This trip was no different. Coming out I checked a hard bag full of tools I knew I’d need and a box that held a hold 4’ level and stair case materials. Going home I traded those two bags for three FULL hard sided gun cases and a large case with Rems bow and archery gear.
When I rolled the cart with all four cases and said three were full of firearms the ticket agent asked if I really had those full of guns?🤣 Yes ma’am, they are but that’s okay because the last one just had a bow and arrows!
After I set the tag inside each case ( more bug eyes from others as each case has to be opened right at the ticket counter) it’s off to the TSA screening xray machine. More bug eyes, “ how many? etc. “ One of the bag handlers wanted to watch the screen to see if there were really that many guns and when Guevara kne passed inspection he came back to me with a big grin and said “ hey it looks like there is a 911 (1911) and some real old west John Wayne and Matt Dillon pistols in there! After which he gave a big grin and motioned like he was fanning an SA hammer!🤣 All I could do was grin and thank him for putting the cases on the machine!
Next up is a NM road trip in 5 weeks to delivery the booty to their new base home. I sure hope none of those customs I’ve given him don’t jump back into my safe!

I just came home from scuba diving. I remember the first time I sent my regulators, cameras, computers, etc in a carry on bag through the X-ray.
Very big eyes with a the lady yelling "bag check!!!!"
Freaked them out with the way everything looked on the X-ray. I think they thought I was 911 2.0.
Thankfully the guy opened it and said "have a great time diving."

Glad it worked out for you. Back around '89 I flew Southwest to LAX from Phoenix and took a parachute in my carry-on. There were some perplexed looks from (Pre-TSA) security but they let me through without any questions. I'm sure that trying that today would result in a private interview.

TSA is easy to fluster.
But at least they didn't give you any hassles.

We recently took a trip to Florida with my Son’s 4 hard cases full of guns plus one with his bow, but we drove. The guns were here with us while he was stationed in Germany. Sure would’ve rather taken a plane ride, but trying to transport all of the firearms made me a bit nervous.

We kept the kids guns and safe while they were stationed in England as well. Throw in deployment long dog sitting and even having a daughter and one year old grandson live with us for a year while the S-I-L was deployed and one learns that military life impacts the whole family, no matter how old they get.

I had an experience 5yrs ago. I flew 4 of my SA revolvers out to ND for a week long shoot, mostly big bore and long range. I checked my gun case they said they would have to open it. I politely told them (with papers in hand) they were not allowed to open the case without me being present. They then said they would run the case thru the X-ray machine and may contact me further….the nice lady came back to me and said….”everything is ok sir, they are just old fashion guns…”. I wanted to laugh my ASS off but some how held my tongue, lol All 4 were Ruger SA, two 45colts, a 480, and a 44spl…..all “old fashioned”, lol
I’ll be flying again soon, hopefully they see them the same way, lol
Hopefully the next trip is just as smooth or SMOOTHER!

One of my workers needed to cut branches in front of his tree stand when he got home from being on the road. He marched right up to the ticket counter, chainsaw in hand (no case) that he borrowed from the shop. Poor guy was blown away when they informed him he couldn't have a gasoline chainsaw as a carry on. His response was "but I just dumped the gas out in the parking lot so why not" Construction workers are colorful at times..... GB

Other than the big eye looks and the physical hassle of getting 2 back packs, 2 carry on bags and 4 large gun/ archery cases moved through the busy airport traveler traffic, traveling with all these was less hassle than when I travelled through the same airport and got snagged for having a set of single action grips and a bare grip frame in my bag.
