That's awesome. Cool looking piece. By the price I would have thought it was One of the meteorite guns. Truly out of this world. But it also makes you smile that it's a $50,000 firearm from a seller that has five transactions. Not questioning them at all but there certainly making a splash with this listing.

For what many 1911's go for I find custom single actions to be an absolute steal.

The slide looks cracked just in front of the front sight to me, can someone else zoom in and weigh in on what that is?

Cabot does these special runs of guns. Meteorite was used for the slide on a matched pair of 1911 a few years back, I want to say they brought over a million for the pair (I could be wrong but it was stupid money). My cousin has a Cabot, not like this one but a more “normal” Cabot 1911 and it is a marvelous gun through and through.
They are properly made and not just out embellishments.
No is it worth $50k? These sorts of guns are it worth what some guy is willing to pay for it. Super rare, hard to make, extremely well done guns with an excellent rep seem to do just fine. This gun will sell to someone.

If you look at the gun and try not to see the stripes, the upper has no redeeming qualities as a 1911 upper from an aesthetics viewpoint. Flat and blocky.

I don't much care for the visible seams on the slide where the various pieces of Damascus were welded (?) together.
When I first looked at the listing I did a subsequent search for 1911, then sorted by price, high-to-low. Waaaay down at 8 or 9-grand were a pair of Wilson Combat Tactical Supergrade 1911's. If money were no object, the pair would come live with me. If I were smart, I'd shoot one and put the other back for safe keeping. But knowing me, I'd just shoot them both.
I've never had eyes for guns that aren't meant to be used.

I actually don’t like the machined checkering. Looks like they machined it and then to create an edge they machined it away Which puts it at a different level. I’m old. But have preferences

What is reverse crown? And why does it not look centered? And radii are not symmetrical I quit lookin Reverse crown is some kind of strange 1911 lingo for regular crown. Best I can tell.
