My son traded for a Savage Striker in 7-08 and wants to put open sights on it for silhouette shooting any recommendations. He wants the sight on the receiver. ***** Don’t know anything about the Savage Striker. Among attributes desirable on a pistol for silhouette: * Intrinsic accuracy. * Good trigger. * Adjustable sights with repeatable, uniform adjustments. Rear sights popular on Unlimited pistols* Bo-Mar----notch width varies by front sight width and shooter preference. bo-Mar made .080” and wider. * Micro----precision antecedent of Ruger’s sight. * ISGW, Iron Sight Gun Works----made by Ihmsa All-Americans Bob & Jo Barlett. After Freedom Arms made silhouette prototypes for John Taffin and me with a Bo-Mar in machined stainless steel base, production used the ISGW in machined aluminum base. * Millett----pretty popular. Rich Mertz used the millet on his MOA (Minute of Angke) lever action falling block. Jim Rock used the Millett on some of his RPM (Rock Pistol Manufacturing) improvement of Rex Merrill’s tip-open single shot. * Williams Foolproof (target adjustments). Front sights popular on Unlimited pistols* Redfield International Globe, with post insert. * Lyman 17A Globe, with post insert. * Lansing Shooting Supply 4-D Globe, with variable width post. Made in Lansing, Michigan, by IHMSA silhouetters Jim Finneran (machinist) and Ken Eaves. The Lansing 4-D globe----featuring a screw-post adjustable for height, and width of .060” to .140”----took off big time. * Mike Belm----T/C barrel maestro. David Bradshaw
