I went to Rob Shepard shop this morning to pick up my little Kimber he did the work on. As we were talking he said he remembered me saying I liked Ruger single actions and that he had done Fuger parts he had bought for a personal friends old model Blackhawk project a few years ago but then the gun hit sold and he still had some parts.
He dug around in done bins and out came a set of large frame internals, a set of old grips that had been over tightened and two other parts. One was a new carbon bisley hammer from Ton Powers and a carbon steel Colt style two piece grip frame! Needless to say I made him an offer and he jumped on it so everything got stuck in the box with the take/off Kimber MIM parts and came home with me.
Overall a good trip to the gunsmith!😄

Those grip frames are hard to find. They’re supposed to be making more….

I’ve used several on customs and love how they turn out. Yes, made steel Old Army XR3-RED grip frames and the new model ones can be adapted to old model guns but if you want to combine the solidness of steel and the fact that these are the only ones that let you put one piece grips on a Ruger Blackhawk you can see how these can be an integral part of done custom revolver builds.

Unfortunately that was my thought Keyle! Steel two piece grip frame, bisley spurred hammer, a #5 base pins, a Bowen rear sight, a fire blue trigger, a old model 44 mag cylinder and a piece of gorgeous English walnut from Steven Dodd Hughes. A guy doesn't need much else but a base gun and a few bucks!

New guys, pay attention to the "few bucks" statement.

In the scheme of things, it’s only money, but if that custom Robb designs, I would buy it.

Sounds like a sweet score.
I had a Single Six that had grips that the escutcheons had pulled through and broken the wood. I carefully routed a small section of the back of the grip out and inlaid a thin piece of metal using JBweld. It's been so long now, that I can't recall what I used for the metal. The repair held for years until I swapped the gun to a friend and he sent it back to Ruger and they replaced the gun and grips.
