When the sbh with the 6 1/2” barrel came out my nephew and I ordered one each! Got all the components needed Hornady dies ,starline brass and some 385 mp from sixshot! I loaded up 25 with trailboss and 25 with hs-6 . He had fun firing those but got real busy and that was that. I sent mine to reeder for a erh length octagon barrel ,action job and freedom arms front sight. Also added a bowen target rear sight. Later added the mp 385 grain mould .And……. There it sat! Have yet to fire it! So just ordered a few hundred bucks of additional brass and hopefully I’ll get around to shoot it! lol

I've got the 480 in a SuperRedhawk, and I love it! It would be nice if I could find some more brass, tho!

Starline had brass earlier. It lasted about an hour.

I bought a bunch of 480 brass really cheap several years ago with the idea of turning it at the next gun show. As fate would have it a few days later I was in the Anchorage Cabelas and they had a scratch and dent Bisley 6.5” 480. It had a swirl mark near the muzzle and they had it discounted a lot. So I joined the 480 crowd.
And now it’s one of my favorite revolvers. I’ve lost track of how many molds I have for it. My most turned to bullet is the Lee 400 grain SWC. Can’t find a load with it my Bisley doesn’t like.
I liked the 480 well enough to have a Marlin 1894 converted to it. After trying numerous times unsuccessfully to win Rossi Puma 480s at auction I opted to have one built.

I got my first 480 at a really good deal. Well, that grew into a trio of them. Luckily,, I have enough brass to keep me shooting for a while. But given the chance,, I'll buy more.

I was sorely tempted to sell my Ruger SBH 480 but just couldn’t do it, so I guess it’s time to knock the dust off of it again.

Am up early, heading for the high up hills of Cameron County Penn. Early spring, early bears, my 4 5/8" BSBH 480 is packed and ready to go. That area is elk range, maybe find a shed ? Can hope, but bet locals keep track of where the bulls are at the proper time. Area is also Dark Skies designated, for low human footprint. Nice way to say WILD !

Midway USA has Starline 480 brass in stock now for 62 bucks per 100. I just ordered a couple of bags as that was the limit
I would love to find a levergun in 480.
I got my 7.5" SRH 7 or 8 years back for a very low bid at auction brand new for about $650 I consider it to be one of the best deals I have ever gotten on a firearm and feel very lucky to have it. It shoots great. I also bought a prototype Lee 2 bullet mold 400gr .476 from a man who was chosen as one of three to test and review the mold before Lee cataloged it. I enjoy my 480 and would love to add a levergun and single action 480 to my collection someday.

I also got 200 as I do not think my back order at Starline will go through, if it does not I'll probably get 500 of the 475 brass and be done for life.
Now that the 480 brass is gone from Starline, maybe those who missed getting brass will be re-thinking keeping their revolvers.
If not for lack of brass I'd be tempted to buy a 500 JRH but I don't need two dogs in that fight for brass.

... Now that the 480 brass is gone from Starline, maybe those who missed getting brass will be re-thinking keeping their revolvers... I think we might be getting a little ahead of ourselves in claiming 480 brass is gone from Starline. Considering that someone here posted recently that they were told by Starline it would be 3-4 weeks before 480 brass would become available, I think it's a fair bet we haven't even seen product from the actual production run yet. I think what we're seeing here is an initial short run to get the production line dialed in. Probably just 10k cases or some such. When they do the full run, it'll be north of 100k. They have yet to satisfy all their own backorders, plus the dozens of retailers who are awaiting a restock. Plus enough left after that to continue to offer it on their own website. We'll probably see 475L restocked after the run of 480 as they're most likely made from the same coin stock. This isn't something that's going to show up and then disappear in the span of 48 hours.
