To use a John Taffin phrase, I feel like mid-frame .44 Bisley Blackhawks qualify for about the perfect packing pistol for most of what I want to do with a handgun.
I purchased one of the Griffon Hill mounts to put a red dot on my blued flattop, mid-frame .44 special Bisley. I bought another of the stainless flattop .44 specials from the run that is out right now. I will leave open sights on the stainless gun and put a fiber optic front sight on it. This was driven by it being much easier to put a fiber optic front on a stainless Blackhawk because of the sight base. I used to be a dedicated black partridge fan and somewhat snobbishly looked down on fiber optics. These days, fiber optic front sights (or red dots) give me a better sight picture when the light isn't perfect.
I would like to be able to carry the blued gun with the red dot on occasion. My EPS Threepersons seems to be about 1/2" or so from clearing. I reached out to El Paso and they won't build one to clear the red dot. With that in mind, does anyone know of a holster maker that would build a holster that would clear the red dot on a Blackhawk?
Thank you.

Simply Rugged makes good quality leather holsters for revolvers with optics.

Pacecars, That holster looks perfect. I have family that way and drive through Snyder every month or two and had no idea he was there.

I have turned mostly to Randy (Big Bore) for my last few holsters. Excellent quality and a very reasonable price.

I, too, would check with Randy (Big Bore). His prices are very reasonable, the holsters are outstanding, and turn around time is very reasonable.

With that in mind, does anyone know of a holster maker that would build a holster that would clear the red dot on a Blackhawk? First off, apologies to the assemblage. I know around here leather is sacred and quality is revered. Dis ain't dat, but it works. Not a single action but it is a concept. Old school Hunter holster modified for the job. In this case it functions well for two fairly diverse guns. A Lframe S&W and the smallish framed Charter Arms 44. The double snaps allow it to pull tight on both sized guns for good retention. ] Nothing fancy but good for basic packin around. Sometimes a holsters highest purpose is to protect your gun while you do stupid stuff and to assure you still have said gun when you get where you need it.

I don't pack my working guns in Barranti either. They ride Galco or Hunters.
