Has anyone put an octagon barrel on a Redhawk 4.2 inch, 45 Colt? Pictures please. Thanks. I used to have such a Redhawk but with no octagon , just factory, no mods. I am thinking about getting another to carry for bear defense plus I just have a thing for octagon barrels and would have a custom one put on it. Any help is apprecitated. Thanks.

This is closet thing I have. I got this firearm at auction. It was done by Mr. Clements. 6 shot in 45 colt that started life as a 44 magnum. 5.5 inch barrel with triple porting.

I’m newer to revolvers than most here, but are you sure had a factory Redhawk with an octagon barrel? I didn’t know they made such a thing.

He's saying hes had a 4.2" 45 colt gun in factory configuration but is wondering what it would have looked like with an octagon barrel.
Hes not claiming to have had an octagon from the factory...

I think that would be a nice custom gun. Hope you pull it off, would like to see. I had Gemini Custom cut down my Redhawk and install a 3.5 custom barrel, not octagon but looks better than the original and feels very good in my hand. This version is the ultimate package. I wonder how the finish effect is created on their guns.

Am sure somebody somewhere did it at sometime but the only Ruger d/a octogon barrels I recall were from JDJ/SSK and those were on the SuperRedhawk frame

Am sure somebody somewhere did it at sometime but the only Ruger d/a octogon barrels I recall were from JDJ/SSK and those were on the SuperRedhawk frame Those would have been SSKs "Beauty" conversion with a tapered octagon barrel on a Super Red. The lines didn't appeal to me on that particular gun, the tapered octagon had that "lipstick on a pig" aura to it. The also had a similar compensated model "identified" as the "Beast". I think a 4-5 inch octagon barrel on a std Redhawk would be one of the coolest things ever. OP, make sure you get a really good barrel!
Ah, the good old days....

Octagon and slab sided barrels have always been attractive to me but I'm too chea... ahem value conscious to pay an uplift for eye candy that the OEM did not make.
I did despite my being "value conscious" recently buy a customized SRH "Toklat" clone in .480 that I didn't think was unreasonably priced.
