Well, one of his Kings Triple Locks anyway! Michael Hutyra was a gentlemen, who I sadly never got to meet, but followed in in varying degrees online for some years. He curated a very large collection of fine guns, many custom revolvers, many of them early 20th century customs, the man was passionate about not only compiling and studying them, but also enjoying them as designed. This Triple Digit Triple Lock S&W left the factory in 1908, was well enjoyed in that time and went back to the factory in the early teens for a refinish. I would wager it then went to Kings Gun Sight for their Super Target Conversion in the latter teens/early 20s. Mike Acquired it many years later, after all, he had 2 hands and #703 Triple Lock, also a Kings Super target gun! The Short Action conversion on this gun feels positively superb, and is unlike any tuned Smith i have ever handled. He commissioned matching holsters from none other than Doc Barranti, and its my understanding he would wear them double stacked on his right side, one at and one ahead of the hip, and empty them with vigor, the man was a real 6 gunner. I truly hope to find that holster! The gun is no sock drawer mint example, but it shows a well earned shared history with her various owners these past 116 years. I am still a bit in shock I was able to reel this one in, but am happy it happened certainly!

Beautiful old gun from a time when the world had a lot more fine craftsmen who took a lot of pride in what they produced.

Of all Mikes guns, that was my favorite! I have pictures of us shooting that and another somewhere. He was one of the greatest guys I ever spent time with. He would love to know his “pig iron” was making you smile and banging steel! Miss that guy! Thanks for sharing. I wondered where that one ended up.

Do you plan on shooting it much? It will be shot, I don't plan to bang on it endlessly, I have plenty of 44 specials to share the burden haha
