Standard Colt timing stuff... No evidence of one side forcing cone erosion that I've seen in some. If it survived the weekend I'll look it over again and maybe claim it this week.

POSSIBLY AN EASY SCREW TO REPLACE, BUT ABSENCE OF THE ORIGINAL MAY GIVE YOU SOME BARGAINING CHIPS. THE SIDE SCREW ALONE WON'T HOLD THE FS BLADE AT ITS DESIRED HEIGHT, YOU NEED THE FRONT LOCKING SCREW TO LOCK IT IN. I "BORROWED" A FRONT LOCKING SCREW OFF OF A COLT 45 COLT NEW SERVICE SHOOTING MASTER TO USE ON MY OFFICERS MODEL 22lr.

The elevation adjustment in the front sight is interesting. FWIW the blade is hinged and spring loaded. The set screw in the front is the elevation adjustment. When I looked last week I thought the sight was held tight with a screw. It is not. It is hinged and spring loaded to the up position.

YOU LOOSEN THE SIDE SCREW AND THE FRONT SCREW TO ADJUST UP OR DOWN, THEN TIGHTEN THE SIDE SCREW AND THEN THE FRONT SCREW, THAT IS THE WAY I DO IT. THE SIDE SCREW ALONE WILL HOLD SOME BUT W/O THE FRONT SCREW LOCKED IN THE BLADE WILL NOT HOLD LONG.

A truly unique path to adjustable sights! From what I've seen in revolvers manufactured after 1906 it must have not been well received by the shooting public. Thinking back there were the S&W revolvers with the four position elevation adjustable front sight plus the standard adjustable rear sight in the 80s. Don't think it was well received either.
