Have been watching the Colt SAAs on GunBroker...while the original fixed sight version is still selling well at $2K+, there seems to be only luke warm interest in the New Frontier.
Unless it is something really special and NIB, the average selling price is only mid teens.
Saw two LNIB 5.5" .44 Specials sell this week for in the $1600s...that's $800 to a grand less than the same gun with fixed sights brings...
Really handsome gun...

If I were inclined to buy a Colt, the NF would be what I wanted. I ain’t much on slick tops, I like adjustable sights. Nowadays, I even need optics !

The New Frontier is the gun I wish CZ would put back into the Colt Lineup.

I just about bought a NF earlier this week for some subtle tweaking. I found one of the Elliason rear sights, a Pietta Pony Express bisley spurred hammer and a few other small pieces that I wanted to send down to Alan Harton to put together. He worked over a previous NF that I bought from Fermin that Jim Stroh and Alan both had worked on and for the life of me I can not remember why I let it go. If Ronnie does actually come out with bisley spurred hammer built fo the Colts then I know I won't be able to resist even though I should at this stage of life.

While I much prefer adjustable sights on my revolvers, I REALLY do not like the profile or design of the NF front sight. It couldn't be more unappealing to me. I accept I'm likely in the minority in this.

I doubt you are in the minor on the NF front sight. I agree with you and if I buy one it will get a new front sight as part of the tweaking.

Huh, lots of love here for New Frontiers.
I think the sights and the lines of the gun are quite attractive.
And most importantly, all of my New Frontiers are great shooters. 😊

Everything else about the gun is appealing except I really don't like the lines of that front sight. Also, a Bisley or wide spur hammer would be preferred. Certainly something King could have put together back in the day. Otherwise the Colt Flat Top Target is the best way to get semi-adjustable sights on a SAA, and looks great IMO.

If the right "opportunity" knocks I could abide with the front sight. After all I already have come to terms with the sight and looks of a Herter's 401, and that is far worse than the NF.

One of but a few customs I am still considering would be a New Frontier converted to .38 WCF

Having always been a fan of the New Frontier, I've had a couple Cougar Revolvers built.
Bought a batch of New Frontier Barrels from Colt when they shut down.
Have three new barrels left. All Gen 3 which screw on Ruger Blackhawks due to the same thread size and pitch.
Will list the three on here first if there's any interest on building Cougars?

I accept I'm likely in the minority in this. Know what you mean. I've kept them just because they're there. But, given a choice, do like the Ruger style, so................. Ruger ramp and sight on my Colt SAA. But then......................... Bob Wright
