I have several guns I use for carry.
In the summer I most often carry my little Ruger LC-9. A 7 plus 1 9mm with one or two extended 10 round magazines. Quite frankly it is an excellent handgun.
I used to put in on with the attitude, that it would have to do in hot weather. Till I took it out to the mountain with me one day. I was hitting some pretty small targets at some fair distances. This gun is staying with me.
I also often carry my Dan Wesson Valkyrie .45. It is a 7 plus 1 round .45 that is fairly small and light, and shoots like a 1800 gun should. (I paid a lot less) I carry it either on the hip or in a shoulder rig with 2 8 round spares. Excellent carry gun.
I sometimes carry my Colt Competition .45 in my Ted Blocker Shoulder rig. I need to wear a heavy coat and leave it unzipped or the barrel prints out the back. This gun is very easy to shoot well, I stoke it with 230 grain HPs and carry 2 Extra mags.
Another Excellent carry 1911, is my Fusion Firearms Commander sized .38 super. With 3 ten round mags, in reserve I have 41 potent 124 grain Sig HPs on my person.
I seldom carry me 3-inch model 66 ported anymore. It is a fine gun, and It is perfect for many scenarios.
But there are so many situations in my town where scumbags run in packs. And at 64 with a somewhat beat up body, I don't want to settle for 6 rounds. This Excellent and rare revolver may go down the road.
I am thinking of a high cap 9mm. I have one for home defense. A Walther PDP with a red dot. Great gun. But a bit much for carry.
I recently acquired a Girsan P-35 clone with a rail, and it has a Lazer sight. It shoots quite well, but I have only used FMJs in it.
At the moment I am thinking of several gun's that would be great for the purpose the SA -35. I have 3 15 round mags for it already and the 2 that have handled. Were better than any of the FN built guns I ever owned or handled.
The SnW shield plus, And the Ruger Max 9. The Max 9 looks like great choice. They are very inexpensive to boot, and optic ready.
My Heart likes the SA-35 or ca CZ 75 Compact. My Brain likes Spending a couple hundred leas dollars. And getting The Ruger or the Shield. The Shield can be had with the pkg that comes with extra mags and a holster.
Guy's after what happened in Israel and the number of terrorists, I am pretty damn sure have snuck in through our southern Border, An effective side arm with as much ready ammo as you can carry is a very good idea....tj
