Hello all!! Does anyone possibly have a list of 7/8 scale SA's in 22lr? I know there are some that exist (being in or out of production could be another story) from makers like Colt, Uberti, and Pietta but would like to know if there are more. Of course there is the Ruger Bearcat, but I wonder of they are closer to 3/4 scale - having not have the opportunity to see one in person. I really think these SA's in a 7/8 scale is a better fit for the 22 than the full size frames large bore frames - IMHO. Being a huge fan of the 22 rounds I would like to know more of what's out there in this regard. Thanks!

For whatever its worth, there were the Crull conversions of many yeara back. these were truly Single Action revolvers made from double action revolvers, the Colt Model 1877 (Lightning, Thunderer, and something else I can't think of right now) with the action truly Single ACtion. And the silly birdhead grips on these remodeled to the true plowhandle grip. I believe these were all .22, and on most target sights were added. While Crull was the best known, there were a few others.

In addition to the ones above the Freedom Arms 97 is an option although it's a tank for a .22 (which I like).

Thanks for the replies on these! I will look more into them. I didn't realize the single six were considered to be a smaller scale, but I guess due to the smaller cylinders attributed to the smaller cartridge, that does make sense. Unless I'm mistaken, the grip size shares the same size as some of Ruger's larger bore SA's but I imagine the frame is likely reduced on them.

That's right. Typically it's been, same size grip profile, reduced cylinder frame and barrel. This is the case with Ruger and Uberti for sure. The other ones are a little bit different animals.
Ruger's grip profile with the xr3 is Colt gen 1 derived in shape. With the xr3-red it's an xr3 with a tail on it and 1/8 more behind the trigger guard. Uberti is gen 1 with 1/8 more at the bottom. But these are all fairly slim in the middle. Gen 2 colt has the backstrap out 1/8 farther at all points. 22 with a gen 2 strap set would I think feel very big.

The predecessor to the Uberti Stallion, the Interarms Virginian .22 was my very first sixgun at 12yrs old. I was done-for at that point. For me, they are perfectly matched to the rimfires and some of the smaller centerfires. They're light but not too light and sized just right. My favorite sixgun extant is the Old Model Single Six. The USFA 12/22 is gorgeous but it's a heavy sucker for a .22LR. [/img]

^ I'm back to single sixes in life myself. I feel like an xr3 gripped single six is perfectly sized. Building one now.
I did get a Uberti "12/22" as an heirloom piece, because I bought it on a trip to visit the college we are sending our boy to. In these 'just after covid times' selection was seemingly limited to 7 1/2 inch barrels. It's a big revolver, kinda too big.

Yeah, they are so solidly good and so abundant, Ruger having made what 3 million of them. You can usually go on Gunbroker and at any moment get an old New Model for $275 + fees. Which is cheap these days and best you can hope for barring walking into a gun store and seeing a dusty used for $275 local (which one should buy...).
Single Six is a better 22 sixgun than a Colt Scout. Way better 22 sixgun than a Heritage. Not so much better than a Uberti Stallion but can expect its more durable.

I own both the Ruger SingleSix 22 and the Colt Peacemaker 22. The Colt 22 has a genuine color cased frame that is smaller than the Ruger and much lighter and points like my Colt Single Action Army 45...... For all day packing I'll go for the Colt 22.

CraigC....The Colt seems smaller and lighter than the Ruger....I will weigh them next week and get back to this thread with the results.
