Is there an easier way to get the *@#% things out?

Vice or press. Just need something with a hole in it to support the grip frame and allow the pin to push out.

Mine have always tapped out pretty easy with a hammer and punch? Exactly, I use a block of wood with a 1/2" hole drilled through it, under the grip frame

Maybe put a soldering iron on the pin for a bit? Maybe someone glued it in for some reason?

Be careful,, the solid pins are easier to drift out, or press out than the roll pins used later, You can damage the roll pins a bit easier when trying to hammer than out. The use of a vise, and a block with a hole in it is an excellent way to move one. I have on a FEW rare occasions,, tightened one in a vise,, then tapped the vise itself to jar the pin a little as I gently add pressure. A good penetrating oil helps as well.

Why would you need to take the pin out?

Why would you need to take the pin out? Because they are about $5 each and RW grip frames don't come with them.

I've bought grip frames where they were missing the grip locator pin. I just replaced them with a standard roll pin from the hardware store. Easy to do, and not expensive.
