Ok what the heck is a 40 special? I looked at the diagram and it wasn’t as illuminating as I hoped.

Are you able to elaborate on the parent case and the mods needed?

Guessing… .225 Win (hens teeth) or a 30/30 with a rim that’s turned down. “Special” length of course…
Cool gun

What straight case is it made from? It would be nice to know. Maybe 401 Powermag that has been cut down?

COR is right. It was done on .30-30 brass. It appears the spec accounting for rim thickness is 0.060". If that's the case, it would be base .30-30 and not .225 Win. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Late to the party as I've been offline for a few days....
When I talked to Hamilton about this round he couldn't recall the parent cartridge. It took some doing and lots of patience to get the reamer specs. After batting it around here previously, the consensus was a .225 Win. I trust Lee implicitly with specs so now I'm guessing it's .30-30. No matter if it is .30-30 the brass is going to be much easier to find. I only know as much as can be found here so sorry for the confusion....
Could you use 10mm dies to form the .30-30 brass?
My plan was to send an additional cylinder to Hamilton for a .38-40 re-chamber and keep the wildcat cylinder for posterity sake.

Still time left!
Tha Hi-powers are still priced waaay too low. These are forged frame guns and the best shooters…
