I know this has been covered before and I even took my own advice and did some searches. What grips are best for taming recoil on a standard Redhawk? Our buddy with the new .500L might soon be wondering soon also…..

Two grips tame Redhawk recoil in my hand: * Pachmayr Presentation. * Pachmayr Gripper.
Although, like the Pachmayr offerings, the discontinued Uncle Mike’s Redhawk grip is wrap-around, is a hard, more plastic-like material than Pachmayr neoprene. For my hand I whittle the finger grooves off the Pachmayr Gripper, and sometimes taper the toe of the Pachmayr Presentation. Pachmayr may have changed its Redhawk grip(s); mine are the original style.
Somewhere in the early 1980’s, I gave the Ruger’s (Bill & Bill, Jr.) a drawing for a rounded----no thumb hump----backstrap. At best, my suggestion inspired a yawn. David Bradshaw

I do exactly the same thing as David has done. Pachmyars, and gently file or grind away a little to fit my hands.

Pachmayrs may be the cheapest route, I would give Nils grips a look as well. The wrap around feature definitely spreads the push back better than an exposed backstrap, even with wood or micarta.

I run the Pachmayr grippers on my Redhawk. I tried the Uncle Mike’s but they were just too big for my hand. I should still have them sitting around somewhere in storage.
I can’t see how anyone shoots full house 44 mag loads with the factory grips, but if they can handle it without taking damage, I’m somewhat jealous.

I squirreled away several camo pairs of the Pachmayer Presentation grips a while back…. I did like the Nils too.

If they fit your hands like mine do, Bantams work well.

EAGLE MAKES SOME EXCELLENT WOOD TARGET GRIPS FOR THE REDHAWK, WORK LIKE PACHMAYRS BUT LOOK A LOT BETTER.

I think Snyd has done some posts on this and liked the Uncle Mikes grips.
I've looked and so far can't find a set.

I did somewhat round out the backstrap but still a little thick front to back. Work pretty well (for me) but still a work in progress.

For my redhawk I had a Bowen Lanyard ring installed, so if I do grips of any kind, they have to be open bottom. I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend I think though with the factory grips.
If I can run thru 20 rounds or so with no real complaints I may just keep it as is. Otherwise I'll have to figure something out.
Might go with Pachmayr, but the decelerator is out of stock for Redhawks.

The Bantams that come on the 4.2”Redhawk are open bottom. They handle heavy recoil better than the factory wood grips in my opinion.

I sent my Redhawk to Jack Hunting to do his grip frame modification. I had him do an action job as well. I am thrilled with the results. I use full house 320 gr loads in it.
