Can't sleep so drinking some 6 year old Very Old Barton tonight. At least it was 6 year old when bottled about 3 miles from here. I have a 1992 date on the bottle for when received, so like me it is a bit older now [31 yrs older]. I don't know if it ages anymore after bottling but it is going down smooth. Listening to some Jason Byrd Honkeytonk and the Alter and I ain't the Devil by Cody Jinks.

Sounds like fun. Jason is a great singer. I have been friends with him for 30 years from the old Fire Department days. He is a great guy also

Hard stuff and me called a truce back around 1988. Beer and wine only since. Live in the middle of a few dozen wineries, so no sacrifice made really. Have listened to Cody Jinks. Very much understand the mood. Never slept well, restless. Sometimes it seems I just crave the time away from, peace of nobodies presence on my radar. Solitude and such seem harder to find.

I've been teaching a younger guy about reloading. He bought a Henry 45-70 levergun, so we started with casting bullets and went from there... Anyway, as a thank you he brought me over a bottle of Blanton's.

One tall drink over a couple of hours and some good music allowed me to turn off my brain and sleep a few hours. I like good bourbon, but never have more than two even when I'm home. It may be a day, week or month before the next drink; but good music is a daily thing.

Your instinct is correct, once it's out of the cask the aging process stops. The spirit can apparently degrade from exposure to sunlight, and the flavor profile will change to some degree once it's opened and exposed to oxygen.

Wild Turkey and Guy Clark will work, along with some Iris Dement[Before The Colors Fade] and just anything by Foxes & Fossils, you like Irish, CELTIC THUNDER, gospel music, The Redeemed Quartet I've Come to Far to Look Back. Good Bourbon goes with it all.
