Hey all. I have a .357 Magnum Marlin 1894c from the 1990's. I added a peep-sight on the rear which is now causing the gun to shoot high even with the rear at the lowest possible setting. So, I need a taller front bead. It's one of the dovetail slots. Does anyone know of a well-made, durable front sight? I found the ones in the link below, but not sure on if these are good or of poor quality. www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/ma38bmfs

FYI, by peep-sight I mean it's an XS rear aperture sight.

QD,
MGW sells good stuff!
Let me know how tall your front sight is and I'll see if I have something taller. I have a stash of Marlin dovetail front sights of varying heights.

Doesn't the rifle have a screw on ramp with a dovetail? XS makes a nice front sight that matches the rear if it does. If not Skinner has a good dovetail sight.

Mike I had to do a round-about measurement with my calipers since it's wedged in. It came out to be 0.505" which I think means it's 0.500". The MGW sights have a 0.530" and a 0.570". I think the 0.570" is the one I should try.

The rear sight came with a ramped front sight, but I would have to drill into the barrel for that as the dovetail it came with from the factory is cut into the barrel. Here's a picture:

QD, This is what I have... L to R: .460" .500 .500 .510 Those heights above include the dovetail, so I'm pretty sure they are close to what you already have (Unless you just measured from the barrel to the top of your sight) If any of these will work for you, send me your address and I'll get it on the way. You could also call XS sights and ask them for their recommendation too (especially if you want a big dot or vertical white line). If you explain to them that your front sight is dovetailed and not a newer screw on type, they may swap front sights for you (worth asking).

I think you're right and I need a taller one. I'll check with XS too, like you suggested.
