I know that gun, I almost bought it but the owner wasn’t great at communicating so I thought he was debating whether to sell it but he was offering it for sale. He was super nice but just not totally clear that’s all. He had a photographer friend who he had turned over sale rights to, and this went to someone they knew who was in to John’s guns. I believe the gun sold at that point for about 2300. The original owner had bought a bunch of custom guns and had a whole pile of rybka holsters. I did buy two of the holsters including the one made for this gun. From everything I know I’d be comfortable with the provenance.

5 shot? Is it custom cylinder or a ruger factory 5 shot. That would make a lot of difference. Maybe he signed his guns that way before going to the top strap etching.

This was a line bored full custom job. Jamey Worrell can shed light on the original buyer, he is the one who originally put me in touch with him (this is one of Wayne’s guns Jamey). I believe Wayne was not one to scrimp on his custom work, he indicated to me it was a no holds barred job. If someone is interested in The piece I will reach out to Wayne and see if he is ok with a buyer picking his brain on the revolver. If I had been quicker I would have bought it several months ago. If I didn’t have other jobs in the works I would be buying it now. I think it had barely been fired when Wayne sold it, and I’m sure he took good care of it.

At the time I originally reached out to him, Wayne still had like 60? More?… Rybka holsters. To give an idea on his taste

Any chance of getting John's description of the work he performed?

John passed away a few years ago, his son Isaac may have those records I don’t know. He is a custom gunsmith as well.

I won't speculate on the pedigree of this gun.
But, it looks like a nice one. Grip fit is either poor or needs adjusting.
I'd speculate the cylinder is custom since Ruger's 454 Cylinders are Counterbored...

I have no dog in this fight, but out of curiosity I spoke with the seller. They are selling it on consignment from the original owner, I thought it had sold but I guess it was put in cue for consignment. The original owner said they shot it once, not sure if that is one session or one full bore shot that cured their interest in a 454 and caused them to mothball it hehe! Any interested party should reach out to the seller, they responded quickly and were helpful. Were it me, I would feel them out for a private sale to avoid gb sales taxes, and maybe get a discount since they wouldn’t have to pay fees. Would still have to go to an ffl of course.
