When I had the pumping business I had a customer who was a retired doctor that lived several miles out of town and who has several hundred acres of timber ground. Over the years we have become friends and he has allowed me to hunt on his property and even take Copper out and ride in his woods. My daughter got her first deer on Dr. Johns and I have taken deer form there as well. Last Christmas I took one of the 5 votive candle pieces I make from wine barrel staves out to he and Betsy and he exclaims how much they both enjoy just seeing it on their table even when not lit! Like many of us, Dr. John has had a BIG Rottweiler for years and he hauls him around in the back of an old Volvo station wagon, his farm "truck". Last time I talked to John I asked how the dog was doing and he mentioned that he was getting old and about ready to take that walk over the rainbow bridge. Having lost our little dog a few months ago I know, like many of you do, how tough losing a life long companion like that can be. I decided I wanted to do something to thank John for giving me access to his land so I went on line and ordered a steel cut out of a Rottweiler head. Once it arrived I used another wine stave and a wine barrel hoop to make a "frame" for the metal work. I have done wall hanging like this before with other animal cut outs but I think this one turned out pretty neat. Hopefully I can get it delivered to John and Betsy in teh next couple of days. This is another one of these pieces I did for a lady who loves owls.

Nice work Robb. I'm sure they'll appreciate your gesture.

It is a very hard thing indeed, we just laid our puppy girl of 13 years to rest this morning, miss her already. "Run Zoe Zoe bird, run"

Dogs kinda get to be like kids to you after awhile. But the dog doesn't call needing money.
