Ok I’m sure it’s been talked about before here but I will ask again. What’s everyone’s opinion on the new Pythons? I plan to buy one. I’m trying to decide between a 4” or 6”. I watch a lot of Wilson combat on YouTube. Bill Wilson and Ken Hackathorn speak highly of them. Bill is a big collector of Pythons. Wilson Combat also makes a nice rear sight replacement for the Python.

I had a 6” for a little while. It was an excellent shooter and had a pretty good trigger pull.

I recently purchased a 4”. Fit, finish and quality are all very good. Because of the CA drop test requirements the SA trigger has a little to be desired right off. Shoot it 500 rounds and do some dry fire and it will help some. There is a bit of a hump on the hammer that a knowledgeable person or Smith can hand stone but I wouldn’t be in a big hurry to do it until you break it in. If you get a chance to handle a new Anaconda you will be amazed! Maybe I got a special one but I love it also.

I bought both post CZ's acquisition of Colt. Excellent guns to be sure.

The lockwork is a hybrid of old Colt and Smith and Wesson. It’s a definite improvement for the Colt.

The new Python shoots very well, with excellent accuracy, and an improved D/A vs. the original. If you really want the gun to shine send it to Heffron Precision. Mike will correct the S/A pull to around 2.5 lbs without changing springs. I've heard issues with light strikes in D/A but haven't experienced that myself. The rear sight fitment on mine was wonky but with a shim, it tightened up. With regard to finish, they simply don't come close to the originald, blue, nickel, or high polish stainless. However, they make excellent shoots and in my opinion are the best D/A guns on the market, when factoring in an action job.
