I bought my Diamondback 22 used as a kid around 1985. I saved for a couple of years, mowing lawns and birthday gift money. I found it in the newspaper want ads and Dad & I went and bought it. $235 was a lot of money for this teenager. I still have it and I really like it, but wouldn't pay today's prices for one.
That gun in your pictures is very clean.

Axehandle,
Oh yes, now we're in the clover. All the Colt snake guns are outstanding, but the Diamondback just stands out a little more. I call mine "Sweetness".
The Colt Diamondback is just my size, my fit, my finish, and my shooting. I really don't know if there is a better firearm for me personally than the Diamondback. My hand loves the balance and my eyes think they're looking at a blue liquid glass. The finish is just stellar. Accuracy is awesome. Either in 22lr or 38special, they both shine. After a dozen years of searching, I found my 6" last year; seventh heaven had finally arrived. Your pics of the wooden grips are just beautiful. I use the Diamondback grips as my example of what I think is the perfect connection between man and sixgun. It's hard to describe what it feels like just holding it. and Yes, I do pull it from the vault and fondle it a lot just to enjoy the rush.
I'm what is known as a "fan boy". I just can't imagine a downside.
You've got a beauty. I hope you find as much joy as I have with that classic sixgun.

hey biblethumpincop,
How about we see a picture of yours? Sound like you've had it for many years with lots of love along the way. 22lr or 38spl? How does she shoot? Is she just one of your guns, or does she have a special place at the table?
19 posts so welcome to the circus. After reading about your youthful acquisition of the Diamondback, I'm happy to say I think you're going to fit right in. Thanks for sharing that story.

I don't think Axehandle has actually gotten a check from them yet! But he's getting some really nice guns.

I would love a 22 Diamondback. I had a few .38s The Mainspring will wear out, but they are easy to replace. I had a Snubbie .38 I should never have sold. But I was a young dad. Needed money.

Bueatiful guns from a time when manufacturers competed with one another for a customer. All manufacturers had better craftsmanship then you see today unless your spending similar money.
Had a 6" and was not impressed with it's accuracy. Let it go down the road for double to finance a Freedom Arms Varmint Class. Now that thing shoots.
Nice looking shooter.
