This one was $535 plus tax. I believe it'll do all I need...

I bought a Tisas Raider in .45 about two months ago. It has been a stellar performer. Zero malfunctions and shoots tight little groups. The shop I got mine at had the Raider. It's cool. I like the Tank Commander model too. I may order a 9mm version to play with.

Checked 6 local gun shops this weekend. Not a single bobtail. I want to handle one before I buy having never shot a bobbed 1911 before.
There were a few regular frames around, was tempted by a 10mm at Hyatt's, but held off until I can handle a bobbed one.

Haven't handled a bobtail 1911 yet either. If you ever get to the Mooresville area check with Bob at The Aisle Pawn shop on Main St. If they make it chances are he has at least one. May be a week or 2 before I get over that way to put some more layaway money down on that BFR.
Will look for a bobtail when I can get by there.

My uncle has an Ed Brown Bobtail alum framed Commander and it is a fine fine gun, I love the configuration much better than square butted Commanders (I like standard square butts on full sized 1911 though). It is the gun these Tisas are modeled after in fact. I am pondering the Tisas version pretty hard myself, thinking truck gun that wont see super high round counts through it but might be called upon in tense times.

You described why I bought mine to a fault. Not a truck gun, but a SxS Gun motoring around the ponds and trails on my land.

Few weeks ago I had my dealer order a Stingray in 9mm...really impressed for the money. Ordered a .38 Super barrel with a Clark/PARA ramp and it dropped right in. Only issue, which has never happened in all the conversions I've done, was the extractor being a little to tight for the slightly larger Super rims.
It is just about a clone of the Ed Brown (just saw one for $3200) or the Dan Wesson Guardian ($1700)

Got this simply rugged shootist holster off ebay. I didn't know really what to expect but it's a cool holster. The toe sewn to the back flap. Sort of a neat variable of the refined Brill type. Looks cool. I'm happy with the gun so far. I was caught by the cool style of the Tisas devil Ray hopefully it hold up functionally. I swapped the slide stop out for a WC extended version, really helps my reach.

I've seen them...but I have collected standard .38 Super brass for 43 years and have enough for a couple of lifetimes...and never have feeding problems.
The rimless rounds are mainly used in double stacked guns like 2011s and EAAs...

Over the past 30 years I have probably bought a few dozen guns from Bob. I really like him, but he probably hated seeing me coming because he knows I buy, but never at the asking price.

Well I made it by the LGS today and lusted a little bit. Had plenty of plastic guns and of course revolvers and...1911's Ruger, Tisas, Girsan, Sig, Smiths, etc. But I was there to fondle one of the bobtail 1911's. I must say it felt really good and balanced very well! It honestly could be an everyday carry gun, it just was not the Yukon model I have been looking for... could always use another 45 ha ha. Here is a link to the one that is there, they had the 9mm version also. tisasusa.com/tisas-1911-stingray-carry-b45ba/

Yep, that's the one!!!
I've never had the desire for a 1911 in 9mm. Nothing wrong with them, just not my cup of tea.
Hope you find the model you're looking for and report on it...
