The thing about 40+ caliber is I always go back to them. my 41's, and 44 Magnums have come and gone, but 45 Colt always has a few spaces occupied in my range bag. Recently I got a Bisley SBH in .480 and even though I've had some growing pains with it (junk factory crimp die problems corrected with a Hornady die) I REALLY like it and I'm planning a hog hunt with it this fall. I've said often to friends no more .44's or .41's but recently my son shocked me saying he'd like to go along with me this fall and a few days ago I stumbled onto a Bisley SBH hunter in .44 and thought, why not? Yeah, I can use a .45 Colt for hogs but I needed an excuse to get this one. Luckily I never trade or sell dies, I have plenty of powder, primers, and bullet molds now all I need is brass and hopefully at the gun show in 2 weeks I'll find that. View Attachment Unfortunately, I do not have a 41 mag. But, I thoroughly enjoy the 44's, 45's, 454's, 480's, and 475's in single actions. I suppose that I have redundant likes with individual chamberings in 45 Colt & 454, and 480 & 475. But so be it, I like them. At times, I think maybe, I favor the 45 Colt and the 480 Ruger the most. Possibly because I also have double actions in these two. I certainly don't feel under-gunned with either. Though I still occasionally like to fire the full house longer versions. My 22's & 357's are in double action revolvers. I suppose that a couple of single action 357's have tempted me. But, I have never owned one. I do not own one, but I do really like those Hunters.

My normal working gun is a Service Six loaded with the Keith bullets on a max charge of #9 but there's a large (500+) bear hanging around right now, so I upped to a 4-5/8" Blackhawk 45 with MP 300gr Keith solids on H110.
If I were hunting this bear, the 45 would do it but I would probably use the 500L with the 51-355H Accurate bullet. I came up with that bullet just for black bear. Haven't gotten it into one yet, but I gave up trying to catch one after 14 milk jugs of water penetration. Accurate to 100yds too. Shoots smaller groups than the LBT 425 wfn I was using, with less recoil except with max loads.
Basically it's like a pre-expanded 45 Colt +p or a 454 at 1385fps, with a slower recoil impulse. It kicks, but it's a roll instead of the rapid punch of the 454.
I have always preferred the 45 and 44 with bullets around 300gr moving between 11-1200 fps. Not hard to handle, but plenty of power to handle rangy stock or predators.
I haven't spent time with the 41mag, but it will probably be a good one with 250's in the same velocity range. I'll get one eventually and find out.
As to the semi's, I have carried a Delta Elite, a Gold Cup 45, or the Detonics alot.
The 10mm is okay for some things, but doesn't sport the mass or wide meplat needed on big bear. I've shot six between 314 and 487 pounds dressed weight with it. It kills, but it's not a good stopper on larger predators.
The 45acp or super isn't as good as the 10mm as to penetration.
Both are great man stoppers, but don't perform well against heavy layers of fat and dense bones and muscles you encounter against larger predators and bovine. Loaded with self-defense type loads they hammer big cats and are excellent choices if you don't live in a bear area. Once it's a life threatening situation with something over 300 pounds though, I would feel undergunned. Over 400, you better hit the central nervous system because they will not break supporting bones reliably.
41 and 44 Specials, heavy loaded, should work with careful shot placement on the larger critters, but if you are in a predatory or defensive attack, there's not alot of time for picking your shot. Heavier bullets break bones and penetrate better. Use a WFN over a LFN, or a good swc in these. I packed a 44sp on a couple hunts, but never got into a big bear. The biggest was 364 pounds and Mr. Keith's load broke the onside shoulder before coming to rest in the ball joint of the offside, crushing it. The bear dropped, but a finisher was delivered immediately.

An above .4, I think that I could really like a 500 JRH. I have a 4" X-Frame 500 S&W. But it is really only a novelty to me. For some reason I never had a strong attraction to the 500 Linebaugh. Though, I did and still do to the 475. Particularly in the FA 4-3/4".

The JRH is fine if you don't want to shoot heavy bullets. It's also easier to download. Especially with 500 special brass.
