got to thinking about ghost guns / 3D printed guns... 1st off, I have no interest, in fact, I'm not a plastic gun fan at all... I might own a couple of legally purchased "plastic" guns, mostly out of curiosity... not thinking this forum is anywhere the people that make these things, would ever hang out...
was thinking, the "types" of people that possess these often shoot 8-10??? rounds from close distances... I would think, that if they are, or did make those guns with straight tubes, it would be "easier" & I can't imagine it would greatly effect the accuracy at distances of 10-12 feet... they would probably still be "minute of man" also would think a tumbling bullet, would be pretty capable of inflicting serious injury, particularly if it struck sideways...
sorry, I have a strange mechanical mind that almost never shuts off ( the poor guy that leads our bible study group has suffered because of my thinking as well ) anybody else with wandering brains, that go down alleys we probably shouldn't some times

Are we talking the Liberator or a Glock lower copy?
Anything with a printed barrel, the rifling won't do much anyway and if the program to print the barrel has rifling then it's more than likely to avoid the accusation that it is a short barreled shotgun.
I think for a primer only wax bullet gun they could be fun to play with, like a little gallery pistol. Then again we do the same with real guns and wax ammo. For some ergonomics and proof of concept stuff it surely has utility.
In reality, aside from 3D printing hobbyists I don't know who actually uses these. Law enforcement is sure to exaggerate the frequency with which they encounter homemade guns, both in absolute numbers and as a percentage of guns used in crimes.
For the record, we shouldn't treat homemade guns like they're the tool of the criminal. America has a long history of improvised firearms.

Actually,, I think a "smoothbore" barrel on a handgun is a federal no-no.
