What is the best way to get the white filler off this gun?

Acetone or lacquer thinner probably. Oil that area down after removing the lettering.
Or send it to me and I'll get it done for you sometime in the next decade. I'd love to have that one.

They are fun little guns. It takes a while to find them at a reasonable price. I thought I could live with the white letters but for some reason it started to bug me. OCD kicking in I guess

I just started fooling with the 32, but it's a fun plinker and a good varmint (coyote and ground hogs so far) cartridge handloaded to it's potential. A 98gr swc at 1500fps really turns out their lights.

I've had luck with a little hoppes and a brass gun cleaning brush before. Didn't hurt my gun and removed the lettering, but no promises.

As protection against foul elements or to make bluing last longer, some of my blued pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, get oil painted by aerosol or brush. When I want to remove the coating, acetone does the job without affecting blue. Wipe with oil after. David Bradshaw

THE WHITE LETTERING HAS NEVER OFFENDED ME BUT I HAVE NEVER SOUGHT IT OR HAD IT DONE. IS THE WHITE LETTERING AN ADD ON OR DO SOME GUNS LEAVE THE S&W FACTORY THAT WAY?

Berryman's spray can carburetor cleaner will do the trick.

I’ve had better than expected success with using a sharpie to blacken white dots in rear sights. It’s easy and reversible. The divot in the metal keeps it from getting rubbed off so it’s more “durable” than it should be. Just something easy to consider.

Picked this up recently from a forum member. Had been looking for a Model 18 .22LR for a long time and didn't even notice the white lettering. The previous owned said that one of the reasons for selling was that he too couldn't get past the white lettering. . Couldn't be happier with this new addition. .

I don't usually give much notice to aesthetics but I like that lettering.
