Can't give advice on cast bullets. But, it's an excellent rifle cartridge. I have a Remington 700 Classic so chambered.
Regret not buying a CZ527 when they made them...

It should make a very good cast bullet round. You can get an easy 2,500 fps load and there are several 22 caliber cast bullet molds out there to do it with.... I know you already have them.

What you use depends on whether you have a proper twist barrel for the bullet length and whether you have a gas check or a plain base mold. I'm fine with standard bullet lube, but have no problem with people using what they want. If it's a gas check base, I would use a gas check.

Calhoon has has reduced data in the article section. Looking for cast bullet data….. I’m not real keen about 1 gr of powder in a rifle case either…..

The revised section shows loads with more powder. It may not be cast specific but I have used that data as a starting point with cast in the 223.

I shot one when I competed in Sillywett. It was the ONLY bolt gun that you could shoot in Standing, Production and Unlimited competition. I also played with some cast bullets and normal loads would exceed Hornet velocities. For plinking and futzing around I used to shoot 3.0 grains of PB (shotgun powder) behind a 55 grain Lyman 225415? which would get 1100 fps.

It is one of my favorites in a Contender carbine, I have a TC Custom shop barrel in 221 Fireball & shoot it all the time here in Minnesota at the indoor range. I have to be one of the quietest guy's shooting there, 15 grains of a magnum pistol powder & a 23" barrel is sure less annoying than guys next to me with 8-9" barrel AR pistols, & one day a guy was shooting an AK pistol, wow, very loud.

Not a Fireball, but I shoot a 45gr. cast GC bullet in my Kimber 22 K Hornet over 5 grs. of Unique.

Yeah, I know it’s a pistol cartridge…. Anybody have sage advice on shooting cast from one? Thinking 22 magnum p+ ***** Early IHMSA silhouetters Ray & Sharon Jones loaded .221 Fireball for their 8 or 9 year old daughter to shoot steel. After swapping the XP-100 center-grip trigger for a Model 600 box trigger, Ray whittled a walnut rear-grip stock to provide more muzzle clearance (10-13/16” bbl) in the Dead Frog position. To increase sight radius and permit over-the-course adjustment, Ray installed a Williams rear and Lyman 17A Globe with post front sights. The load: Lyman #225415 cast 55-grain gas check, over 14-grains/Hercules 2400. Bullet selected for having a gas check. At their home range, Otter Creek in Bristol, Vermont, targets were often set light for young Dana Lones, to help the tiny round tip over more targets. David Bradshaw
