No measuring device in hand right now but I will soon. The idea is to visually illustrate the thinness of the G30S Slide. It is the thickness of the 9mm and 40 cal Glock Slides. Same thickness as the G36 slide.

I have a Glock M30 Gen4. The slide is .120" inch thicker. I have carried it a lot. I have found, for the average sized man that small differences make almost no detectable difference in carrying. If one can carry one they can carry the other. I have also carried my M21 Gen4 quite a bit too. Carried a 3 inch 1911 and a 4 inch 1911 in 45 Auto. Same with those too. Same with a 5 inch 1911 and a 4.25 inch 1911. Both steel frames. Carried a 5 inch stainless 1911 Springfield 45 Auto for a long time in a IWB holster. No problems.

I was one of the, "Properly holstered, you can wear a full, size, all steel gun all day every day," guys. Here I am 70 years old telling you that that is NOT and was actually was never the case for me. 10 years of 9 hour shifts in a range standing on a concrete slab changed my perception completely. I might carry large all steel guns but I carry in a chest holster. Outside of weight, carrying concealed, size, no matter how minor, for me, matters.

I have a Gen 3 Glock 3 and Glock 30S. Both are great. The 30S is lighter and slightly less thick which does help. Its essentially a 30SF frame with a 36 slide and barrel. My wife has had trouble with limp-wristing the 30S, so I added a tungsten guide rod which has reduced malfs for her. Neither gun has given me malfs except for when mag springs wore out. Swapped in New ones and all was well again. Great guns.

Didn't mean any negativity. Just stated what I believe. We all believe different things based either on our own experience or others that we trust. I have tried carrying different size guns like the 1911 and Glocks. I just stated what I believe is all. BTW I am 70 also.

Nothing wrong with your experiences. Nothing wrong with mine. Another boxers or briefs thing.

Old timers also used "making a mountain out of a mole hill". Or Matthew 23:24.

I can say that when younger a 1911 5 inch was all that was needed in the waist band...Now at the mid 60's I would say a well made holster is very important and a chest system is great under a coat or over shirt...Then comes a great pancake iwb or belt carry...all with smaller frame pieces still with big holes...
