What are the favored custom single action barrels? I love them all, but lean towards the barrel bands on big Blackhawks and love beautified front sights on round barrels on everything. I can't decide. I love ribbed barrels. I have a s&w barreled blackhawk and JRH is putting an anaconda barrel on a Nm flattop blackhawk for me.
I hope you will participate in the poll.

Can’t do it Sir. I’d have to vote 6 times because every type you listed lives here.

Depends on the gun I think, and a quality installation makes as big a difference as design choice. Top strap treatment, welding, and blending can make a gun with an awkward octagon barrel look great. I think barrels with integral bases look better on non-flat topped guns when the rear sight ears mirror the height and length of the front sight base.
I think all Ruger factory front sights can be improved upon.

I’ve always been waaayyyy partial to the octagon barrels myself. My only custom that I had was a octagon and I just liked the crap out of it.
I sure like some of the barrel banded ones I’ve seen you guys post.

I, on the other hand, have never found an octagon particularly appealing... always kind of wanted one, just to have one, but one has never found it's way to my house yet... I voted Ovate... always liked the looks on the ones I've seen, & can appreciate, the extra work that they surely involve... I don't have one, but again, would like to add one to my collection Even though this is a double action, & technically ribbed as well, I do particularly like the slab side cutting Dave Clements did on my custom 3", especially after it was engraved

I always preferred octagon barrels until I got one with the ovate barrel. Now that has become my favorite.

I have not had an octagon barrel on a Ruger but have had a couple octagon Cimarron colt copies. I did not care for them once I had them. I love octagon lever guns though.

I do have an older Rossi Brass & Stainless 45 Colt Lever gun, with a stainless octagon barrel

Favorite is Octagon, then Ribbed,…..never been a fan of the barrel band style but it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t own one.

Octagon and banded for me. However I like the simplicity of a round barrel on the revolver with barrels under 5".

This post was just for fun. I think they are all great. Ruger single actions are my favorite guns followed by Marlin 39s, then all other Marlin lever guns. I like all the variations. The gun world has something for everybody. Unfortunately we all get viewed as bad because of what a few people have done with a few guns. All guns are neat and some of of the most innovative inventions of man. Hopefully in America we can own guns forever, but unfortunately it looks grim. Thankfully in Texas we are still pretty gun friendly mostly but it's changing more quickly than I like.

Favorite is the octagon. I also like some of the DA barrel installations. The banded barrel has grown on me to the point that I want to have one done. Always with a custom front sight, no matter what it is.

My preferred type of barrel is an accurate one. That's far more important to me than it's style or contour.

My favorite is the octagon, likely comes from my lust of Winchester and Colt rifles wearing octagon barrels. Have always liked the banded ones too, just not as much.
Recently S&W barreled Blackhawks have caught my attention and I have started picking-up barrels of different calibers to start building a "set". Picking up barrels faster than guns to put them on, hopefully that activity will pick-up soon.
