...or worse, depending on your point of view..
Did a BuyNow on a good deal on GunBroker this morning... Completed the checkout process and got the total with shipping...bank check or MO...and this was from an FFL dealer with over a 1000 feedbacks.
One thing was a little strange, the MO was to be made out to an individual to a PO box...first red flag... Sent a message to the seller that I would be getting a MO and mailing it out shortly. Before I went to the bank got a message back from the seller saying they would also do Zelle or PayPal...BIG red flags...and then about the same time received a notice from GB that the transaction had been terminated as the real sellers account had been hacked. "SEND NO MONEY"....
So GB is doing a pretty good job as this is the second time in three years they have caught a hacker that had cloned onto a legitimate account...
..be careful out there...Bob

Glad you didn't get screwed. That said Venmo, PayPal and zelle aren't really a sign of scams as I've paid for several items on GB as well as several people on this forum via the online payments. It's all comes down to doing a little due diligence even if it's a well rated seller (that could have been hacked).

Big Red Flags for guns... PayPal can be used as an option for most everything on GunBroker except for magazines over 10 rounds, certain gun parts, ammo and reloading components.
On these GunBroker doesn't even give the Seller the option of listing that as a payment method anymore.

I’m sure GunBroker has caught on to a lot more scammers than we have any idea about. It’s the level of sophistication that they have in all walks of life that has just gotten scary. I am to the point I pretty much everything to my credit card and then pay off at the end of the month in full after reviewing. That said my card was hacked a couple of months ago, my card company caught on to it before I had any idea. But at least there is a layer of protection there.
I worse part is I don’t see an end to it, people will take convenience over security everyday if the week. So that mean fewer first person transactions for cash and more virtual transactions that can be scammed.
