Saw two nice guns very fairly priced at a shop in Ct. last week...
Rodeo 4.75" matte finish, .44-40...#FC001 with box(black)...$1200
Blue/Case 4.75" .45 Colt...#P119050 with box(white)...$1800
Both excellent condition.
I have pics that I can send via text...send PM if interested..
They are at Newington Gun Exchange, Newington, Ct....excellent people to do business with.

Good price on the rodeo, especially in 44-40, don't see too many in that configuration. The 45 colt is most likely a Italian parts gun.

..my thoughts exactly... The box with the .45 is when they were made "Under The Dome" and from what I have been told it wasn't till they moved to the building of Airport Road were they all American parts...

Only way to maybe tell if American is by serial number and even that is clear as mud.

Alex Hamilton has a page on his website at 10 Ring Precision that tells how to tell the difference somewhere in the loading gate

Loading gate number corresponds to the number on the grips. Not helpful.

There is a “Tell” in the base of the loading gate area if you know stat to look for like Greg mentioned.
