Anyone recall if the compensator on a TC Hunter barrel was silver soldered on or machined as one piece? I knew at one time and can't remember...I'm thinking they were a separate piece..

Separate - sometimes they were known to follow the bullet partway to the target.

Really? Interesting, I always assumed they were threaded on.

Really? Interesting, I always assumed they were threaded on. ME TOO, HARD TO BELIEVE THEY WERE JUST GLUED ON.

I have a 30-30 Hunter barrel rechambered to 309JDJ. It's the loudest damn thing ever. It shoots great, just need double hearing protection.

They are seperate, but the brake on my 375 Winnie has never given me a problem.

My only two are a .45-70 and a now .358JDJ. The latter has a lot of rounds through it.
Most objectionable to the ear IMO was may dad's 7mm Waters, just something about the pitch.

I have a 45-70 Hunter barrel. Not a very efficient muzzle break. I sent it to Mag-na-port and had ken kelly cut 4 slots in the barrel. Great reduction in recoil.
