Same on my end. But, in the mainstream, they're all but dead.
Just take a look at the optic manufacturers that have dropped pistol scopes. That's strictly from the lack of demand.
I scoured Ebay for months and bought all the pistol scopes I could find. At this point, glad I did...

I've noticed that too, very sad. I've resorted to planning ahead and buying the scopes I foresee having a use for. Particular to the Leupold 2x's, a couple Redfields and the various Burris models. I even got several of the old Tasco ProClass 30mm scopes before their prices tripled.

I do the same thing Craig. When I put glass on my 8mm JDJ Contender, I bought three Leupold FX-II 4 x 28's. Never hurts to have two on the shelf. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

When bullets get over 120 grn, the Grendel looses ground quickly.
For 129+ grn Bullets, I have a Bullberry 6.5x54MS Barrel. It'll push a 140 grn to 2400+ fps on a G2 Frame.
Head size is only .009" larger than the Grendel. Backthrust against the frame is basically the same.
The powder capacity of the 6.5x54 is almost exactly the same as the 6.5 Creedmoor. Maybe 2 grns less at most. But, it operates at lower pressure.

The 6.5 Grendel is made from 220 Russian/7.62x39/PPC Brass. 6.8 SPC can be made by shortening 30 Remington. This one makes an excellent Contender Cartridge too... CORRECT HEAD UP A$$ Have 2 Grendel ar15’s and the contender is 6.8spc

I hold the 6.5 Grendel in high regard. When I needed a .30-caliber benchrest barrel and my action was set-up with a PPC bolt face, the .30 BR wasn't an option (at least without rebating the rim). So I took the 6.5 Grendel, necked it to .30-caliber (which is a .30 Major), and pushed the shoulder ahead 0.040" with a 40 degree angle. I called it the .30 Stingray. Done on outstanding Lapua brass, the Stingray has won me a lot of winner patches. Behind a home-made 114 gr bullet and a compressed charge of LT-30, velocity tops out at 3,020 fps. Pretty damn fast for such a little case. Now admittedly, we run really high pressure in BR rigs. Tight chambers, large lugs, and 100% contact on the abatements make 65,000+ PSI quite doable. Even more impressive is how long that Lapua brass lasts. I typically get over 50 firings at that level. I've yet to split a neck or completely lose a primer pockets. I retire them when they become looser than I like. Full disclosure, my FL sizer squeezes the shoulder junction 0.001" under the chamber diameter. At the 0.200", they're squeezed about 0.0004". So the brass doesn't get worked much and I anneal after every firing. I see why there's interest in using the Grendel in TC Contenders at lower pressure. It's an extremely efficient case. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

What do you have to do for 6.5x54 brass? I do the same thing Craig. When I put glass on my 8mm JDJ Contender, I bought three Leupold FX-II 4 x 28's. Never hurts to have two on the shelf. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" I do it with rifle scopes too. With pistol scopes, it's mostly Ebay. With rifle scopes, my local shop gets quite a few used ones in on trade. It's always my first stop. I see one I can foresee a use for, it comes home. Same for red dots. I see them on sale, I snag a couple. It's how I ended up with 12-14 SIG red dots on all sorts of guns. I may need an intervention.

Craig - I keep coming back to this thread. The 6.5 Grendel in a Contender is quickly moving up my to-do list. Have you shot yours much? And if so, what type of velocities are you getting? I may make up a TC barrel in it. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I have used the Grendel in an AR platform for years. Talk about a hog hammer! I would love to try one in a single shot pistol. I seem to have a TC addiction and that would make a great addition if it were safe.

It's funny, I never even considered it in the Contender until I saw them from SSK. Just never put the two together. I got a 6.5JDJ barrel last year along with brass and a few loaded rounds. I need to chronograph them next to the 6.5 Grendel handloads I've been shooting. Both barrels are 14" and I may have enough of the Federal Fusion left to test as well.
