in my thread on 45 Colt Double actions, there is much talk about chamber throats... too small is a pretty easy fix, but if they are too large, will the factory take them back, & exchange the cylinder, with proper sized throats???
kind of makes me nervous about buying another revolver, without bringing my my rods with, to check it out prior to buying...
one member on that thread talked about resizing 45-70 bullets to solve the problem, with the issue being that those cartridges will not chamber in a gun with proper sized throats...
assuming over sized throats, & a heavily leading gun should be considered a factory defect... thoughts???

I’m almost willing to bet that oversized throats would be ok with PC bullets. I don’t have a sixgun with oversized throats to test my theory but there it is….

I've tested Coated Cast in oversized throats and got very good results. That being said, the throats were only .002" oversized.
Mag - I quite literally carried a pocket full of pin gauges when looking for a S&W 25s. Eventually, I found a 45 Colt with .452" Throats and a 45 ACP with .451" Throats. I honed the latter to .452".
Usually factories have a "range" for all tolerances. If your cylinder throats are in that range, you're stuck like Chuck.
I've measured 45 Colt Cylinder Throats from .449-.458". It's a crap shoot...

Probably the best you could do would be have them uniformed and round.
Taylor throating might be a consideration for a gun like this.
I doubt accuracy would be problematic assuming everything else is in spec, even with factory type ammunition.

THERE IS NO FIX FOR OVERSIZED THROATS, THE ONLY "FIX" IS A NEW CYLINDER. COLT HAS ALWAYS SEEMED TO PREFER OVERSIZED 45 COLT THROATS, POSSIBLY A HISTORIC SPEC FROM THE EARLY DAYS OF SOFT HOLLOW BASE 45 COLT BULLETS.

They will probably say they are in spec but would sell you a proper size cylinder.

Cure for oversize cylinder throats or oversize barrel groove diameters = cast hollow base bullets of the right temper. This even works fine for shot out revolver barrels, specifically the 1917 variety.... no more keyholes or large groups, just normal size groups.... BTDT. And yes, it works for the Anaconda also.

edk: WAY BACK A LONG TIME AGO, I GOT A'HOLD OF A 44 MAG ANACONDA CYLINDER AND HAD JRH RECHAMBER IT TO 45 COLT AND FIT IT TO MY 45 COLT 6" ANACONDA, PROBLEM SOLVED. HAD EDIE JANIS DO THE SAME WITH A NICKELED COLT 45 COLT SAA USING A 357 DONOR CYLINDER. AND ALSO HAD JRH DO THE SAME WITH A 25-5 USING A 44 MAG DONOR CYLINDER.

Bear Creek Supply has 2 acp and 2 Colt bullets offered with HB and a coating both. I've not ordered from them. Enough interesting things that I have them bookmarked though.

Thanks 45MAN, that was 25 years ago and I knew the cylinder wasn't right at the time but didn't have the contacts to do anything about it. Fully loaded the gun would rattle like crazy when shook!
