Reading thru the original post yet again...revolver cartridges only, hence revolver wanted. Concealment seems wanted. Talking of bottlenecks and woods, creeks, not the subject.

FWIW and this is just my opinion, and all that.
I always remember, this whole discussion is about being outside normal, with everything already gone to poop. Distance is definitely a part of this.
“The odds” of it being close, do not matter, when it is happening. At that time, as the odds are already against you. Distance has, and still does, happen. It doesn’t hurt to be as prepared as we choose to be - and if we are lucky we’ll die in our sleep.
If they made J frames in 44Special, I’d have chosen that round. Since they don’t, I’ll choose the 38/357 for a revolver round.
Those 45/70 revolvers don’t really count, to me.

I sold an air weight 396 in 44 special a couple years ago... maybe should have kept that one, but I had to sell a few things I liked, to pay cash for the 1960 El Camino I bought

I have enjoyed reading the different responses. My favorite defensive revolver is a S&W 10-8, 4" heavy barrel, round but. It just fits, I have qualifed with it several times at work. I carry Underwood 158 lead swc gc hollow points. I have chronographed the load at 1040 fps. I have read that in treating 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 acp wounds er doctors can't tell the difference from one or the other. I wonder if the same could be said with revolver rounds? Comes down to shot placement.

Still packing my speed six 357 alot, but do carry the Delta Elite sometimes. I really don't think the 10mm has any advantage over the 357 against people.
I've posted several photos of standard index cards on here that I can keep all six rounds on at 50yds. The Colt simply isn't up to that.

I have faith that you could still hit it though. Obi-Wan-Sixshot. Am smiling as I type, mean this in best possible way. Soo, PDW revolver, for two legged vermin ? The old 44spec 3" Bulldog and the new LCR 38 +P are my 2 best options here. An LCR or LCRX in 32mag maybe ? Doesn't Charter Arms have a 9m revolver ?

Not sure I can see an index card at 50 yds.......... Dick Trifocal glasses are the only way I can. Greatest investment in years. I could barely hit an 8" plate at 25 yards before I got them.

Not to sound too cliche', but whatever a fella can HIT with and conceal. MY preference is a 3" 357, with 180 grain WFNS at 850 - 950 fps. For many years, it was any one of a number of 3" 44 Spl Bulldogs, 240 - 250 grain SWCs at about 800 fps. I am no expert and have no data to back my choice, but these are guns I'm most comfortable and confident with and can conceal easily. Agreed 100%, a CNS hit with any well made bullet is a "man stopper"
