I would assume the leather used in most holsters & knife sheaths can be easily & permanently branded??? I'm thinking about having an iron made to start putting on some knife sheaths to start with, but could just as easily end up on some holsters... will be simple & not too detailed, assume not much different than stamping???
Moisten the leather??? before branding for better results???

Sounds like a bit of experimentation might be called for, try different ideas on some spare leather. It’s what I did when trying to figure out how hard to hit my stamp with a mallet, as well as dry leather and wet leather, a strip used for a belt was the perfect practice piece.

Years ago, at Philmont Scout Ranch, we had strips of leather that were branded with the (2) Philmont brands. I still have a few around here somewhere.
With branding,, you have to be a bit careful to not burn the leather too deeply. But it can be done easily! Go for it!

Our son went to Central WY College and often went to local brandings; he's a pretty good hand. He has a pair of chinks with many of the outfit's brands on them. Was his way of keeping track of who he'd worked for.
