We had the cowboys out here the other day to work the cattle. After they were done we all sat around talking and two of the men said they were not excited about going to another ranch where they had to "brush pop" cattle for two days before working and selling them. Apparently this ranch has done no brush control and the cattle will hide in the nastiest, thorniest tangled up foliage they can find and they wont come out; the cowboys have to go in and get them. (Hence, "brush pop").
Anyway, one cowboy asked if I knew where to get 410 shotshell rubber buckshot without paying 3 dollars a round for the boutique stuff. I told him if I can find the rubber balls I could probably load it. He specified low pressure rounds to keep from hurting the cattle more than necessary and these would be fired out of a Taurus Judge. He is not trying to replace good cowboy work with a weapon, just when you get that one bull or cow that wont act right no matter what you do...
Anyone know a source of hard rubber buckshot? I have seen a couple industrial sights that have it but it is expensive and you have to buy a certain amount. I dont need 200 pounds of rubber balls.

What kind of range are they talking? I wonder if plastic air-soft bb’s would work?

The air soft bb’s was my thought as well, you should be able to load quite a few with a tub of them.

Why not load rubber bullets for the 45 colt, probably easier to find and load?

I dont know the range. It is just something to put a little sting in their butt to get them out of the brush. I dont know if airsoft BBs would carry enough energy but worth a try. Rubber 45 Colt bullets were mentioned. If anyone knows a source, that would probably be an option.
I have to admit, I was pretty confused at first when they asked me to load something like this. A bit out of my norm but I am game to help them out if I can.

I had a fish and game officer tell me one time to discreetly use frozen paint balls in a paint ball gun to gaze deer out of my yard m. Stings, leaves to marks or damage and quiet.

I wonder if being quiet would be good or bad? Perhaps the noise associated to the pain is a good idea

Having been shot with an air soft pellet at 10 yards it Still carried a sting at that distance, possibly look at the craft section of Walmart or visit a hobby lobby and see what they have in suitably sized beads

Can you cast a big ole paraffin wax ball or slug ? Not sure if you are asking if he can? But yes it can be done, Wax bullets have been used for a long long time for gallery and indoor shooting, I believe they were used for quickdraw possibly as well? Was a fellow sometime back that was casting "hot glue" bullets. apparently there are several these days, here's one. tngun.com/diy-hot-glue-bullets/
