Someone posted these earlier today, but I can't find the thread now... Anyway, cool stuff from the Library of Congress - at least to me, I was a Folk Studies minor at university. LINK

That is pretty awesome that he is in the Library of Congress. Right where he needs to be.

LINKI deleted it because I thought it was posted before and some of the members here knew him too. No worries. The good stuff seems to pop up repeatedly around here. One of the best parts about going to visit my in-laws is listening to Dad tell the same old stories for the umpteenth time. Some of the siblings just roll their eyes, but the wise ones just soak it in... Welcome to the family.

Elmer Keith was my idol from the time I discovered his writings in my teenage years and throughout the rest of my life. I only wish I could have met him. Thanks for posting the link, it was good to finally hear his voice.

Makes me miss my Great Uncle, he was a hunting guide in Northern California around Mount Shasta (late 50's early 60's into the 80's). I would sit and listen to his bear and mountain lion stories when I was little, he came back to Oklahoma in the late '80's I met him shortly after that. He has been gone but a few years now, and along with him all of that great knowledge and experience. Unfortunately I was never able to spend lots of time learning from him. I was late to the Elmer Keith story, always wondered if they had ever met? My uncle had a ranch around Burney and Redding he was involved in saddle bronc and other rodeo activities.

Outstanding stuff! Thanks so much for sharing...Real men like Mr Keith are few & far between anymore, and becoming increasingly scarce at that.
