i'm going to with 45 Colt in a TC Contender with a 10" SSk barrel. i'll either put on a 2x scope (deer will only be 60ish yrds and under), but i am wondering if a SeeAll sight would work? i don't have one, so i'm going on your opinions. www.seeallopensight.com/

A little off topic have you by chance corresponded with SSK about any specifics concerning the 45 Colt chamber itself? I did so within the last month or so and did not get a good feeling about it as well as a couple of other aspects of the barrel. Yes, I know they have the reputation of a premier barrel maker but they have also been recently sold off and acquired as a division of another company.

See All... no. You'll be robbing yourself of a lot of potential accuracy.
That said, I keep trying to find something it's good at. The other day I was holding it on the barrel of a muzzle loader thinking "I'm only going to shoot it short range anyway, maybe it would be good enough?" I may try it, but at this point I think a shotgun is what it would be best for.

I don't know if I said it here or elsewhere. I put one on my Ruger 22/45 and used it to shoot 6 & 8" plates at 25 yards. And most of the time I hit them. But that same gun with the now very old Tasco Optima2000 mini red dot it had on it, I could hit empty 9mm cases at that same distance. So it came off and a dot went back on. I think they'd best for a "blaster" or plinker. (a less accurate semi auto or a shotgun). I bought the SeeAll I have as one of there "blem" sales, so a fair bit less than full retail. For that I'm grateful, because I really would have been let down had I paid full price. The "reticle" (triangle) is a little crooked and really bugs me. lol I may try the muzzle loader thing. I really don't like modern ML's as I don't see the point on many levels, or the fun. But I have a "less traditional" side lock with no sights. With my eye going south, I thought it might make a good "last twenty minutes" hunting gun with a dot sight on it. But I also can't see "wasting" money buyin/putting a dot sight on something that MIGHT get used, if at all, for a few minutes, every few years. I keep meaning to take it outside for a look in low light, but never remember. (they do/did make a tritium one, no way I'd do that)

i got a reflex sight somewhere, so i'll put that on.
i'm with you on modern ML, i use a CVA Hawkens with a left hand FL front stuffer in 50 cal. the only thing modern about is i have put fiber optics sights on the CVA. my eyes ain't what they used to be.

As it turns out I stuck it on the muzzle loader and didn't like it, without even shooting it. As it also turns out, I had to mini dots sights on rifles that recently came off them, so I had spares to use instead.
Would you still be interested in trying the SeeAll? I'll send it to you. I'm thinking it might just be better to get it gone and stop trying to find a place to use it.

thank you, but no. instead of buying a 45 colt, i bought two 10" barrels. they are 30 Herrett and the 357 Herrett. i got them cheaply, so the 45 Colt is on the backburner. i think i use scopes for them. again, thank you, but no.
