I know that you just can't wait to come back with a range report. Right? took it out Saturday just to make sure it worked, it shoots great popping rocks on a side hill. two problem's show up left target's at home and the ejection rod loosed and could get the cylinder to close easy fix. i like it

I rolled the dice and ordered a new Model 69 2.75". Got lucky as fit and finish were excellent. Took it out Saturday and nestled into some bags to shoot a few 5 round groups with some favorite reloads - both cast and JHP. At 25 yards, it shot 2 different cast loads into 1.2 or so inches and the JHP's into .75" - no load development and centered sights for a change. Needless to say, I was very happy with it. My last 629's, a 4" and 3" deluxe were terrible shooters and I nearly gave up on newer S&W revolvers.
Now I have a new toy to play with and carry around the farm. I'm thinking about some of those muted color VZ grips for it and a Sourdough pancake it can ride in. Guess I'll need some nice speed loaders too. My plans are for 240's - 260's at 900-1000 fps since it seems to like those and, will hopefully, stand up to a steady diet of them. I've been through quite a few factory revolvers buying, testing and trading over the years. I always tell the buyer if I'm not happy with the way it shoots. It's a great feeling when you find a keeper. My thanks to y'all here for the honest reviews on the Model 69 that led to my purchase!

Not in a 2.5" GP100 but lots of rounds through an older Security 6. As much as I appreciate the S&Ws, the Security 6 and GP series are truly some outstanding guns. Accurate and built to take a lifetime of use.

My daily carry guns. The 66 in an inside the waist holster and the 60 in an ankle rig. Same load for both. I bought the 66 in 1995 and the 60 in 1996. And never once have I thought about a different CCW set-up. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

For.me, there is a place and time, for t-shirts shorts and flip flops, runnin local, hard to beet my Bond cowboy, 45 LC, pop can accurate to 20 yards. Belly protection I can rely on. To town in the big city in short t-shirt and tennies but in areas where people congregate. A little anemic in my mind, but very light and small and slips easily in and out of my strong hand pocket. BUT when traveling or hitting big cities and unknown surroundings, they don't give me that warm fuzzy feeling of security I get with the St. St. Valor V-Bob in 45acp, detailed by Dave Severns and treated with his hard hat treatment to nock that silver finish off. About as short a barrel as I feel comfortable using for anything. I even trust the Valor for woods protection hear in the east. But never considered any of them for target shooting, even though the Valor could be justified for such things.

Lee - I like your style. Sort of a Peter Gunn meets Doc Holliday thing you've got going on there. Henry Beige would approve.
